I had this replaced yesterday with the latest version and I can also confirm that there is absolutely no difference that I can see.
Hot phone and rarely more than one or 2% increase in charge level on fairly long drives
Well that sucks

I was thinking similar or at least attaching heat sink to it to dissipate the heat. I don't recall how much room there was when I last opened the panel at front of console replacing the LED light, but will check.

I don't think they're actively replacing these unless there's a fault so may just take that route
Which LED light did you replace?

Update - part was replaced, entire think took maybe 20 minutes. I went out and asked the guy about the part and he showed me the old part he had removed, new part was already installed so I was unable to see the difference, however, the old part DID have a large heat sink underneath it, unlike Lamar’s original post. SC guy did mention they know about the overheating issue though.

Sorry for those of you having trouble, definitely some inconsistency with Teslas different SC’s which should not be the case. I have yet to fully test it out, will update on that as well.
Final update: Very disappointing to report similar experience to others here, phone still gets really hot, hardly charges at all. After like 10 minutes it finally went up one percent, still unnecessarily hot to the touch in a 68 degree cooled car without much direct sunlight on the device. Why are they even bothering replacing them?

Yup. Very disappointing. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences so the rest of us won't put our truck under the knife for nothing. I guess maybe the fins on the enclosure were all they did after-all... :-/

Hope it will be a upcoming software update that will make the new hardware work. Optimistic thinking…

So I previously had the car in with this problem so this wasn’t the first interaction.
I use the Tesla wireless batteries in both our cars on the charge pads. They both charge and can be charged wirelessly which is pretty convenient. They are handy for when you leave the car without a lot of charge because they just MagSafe into your phone. They also have nice little tilt for setting up miss Rachel or cocolmelon in a restaurant. When you’re done with them you just throw them back on the charge pad in the car and they charge relatively slowly until the next time you need them. Mindless. Sometimes I have the Jowua wireless controllers on there too but they seem to handle the heat ok.
Anyway, the Cybertruck warped one of the Tesla batteries and I took it to Tesla. They came back with “within spec” and made me call the Tesla shop which sent me a new one. That one also warped.
So today, when I saw the post, I sent a picture of the second warped battery. They tried to schedule this as a mobile appointment and since I wasn’t that enthused about having another mobile tech give me a tour of the low voltage system, I sent a message with the part number and they immediately responded with thank you and changed the appointment to a SC appointment with a loaner.

You'd think, mine was a December 2024 AWD and the existing charger also had the heatsink fins, so they must have just replaced it with the same thing I suppose.
