Total Trip A average still coming down and local trips still in the high 200's. Same routes and ambient temps were averaging over 300 before getting the sticking LR brake fixed and update to 2025.26.4. Not convinced on why but happy to see improvement.

Either the Core wheel and tire combo makes a big difference or you're driving downhill everywhere, in a vacuum. Those numbers are incredible IMHO.

I believe that a rated mile in the FS is in the 383 Wh/mile range. I'm managing slightly better than that and thought I was doing well, but you've clearly got it dialed in. The S, 3 and Y I've had have always approached 'rated' in the right conditions, but I never managed better than rated. And never for more than one charge - average was always much higher than rated. It makes me think that they've gone with more realistic numbers in the truck.

My use case doesn't really support the Core wheels and tires, but it would be great to have a set for road trips if they're that much more efficient.

Just sharing what I'm seeing. Will keep an eye on it. BTW, These are round trip numbers. I'm not a boomer so it can't be uphill both ways. 😉

123 KWh Battery and 400 watts per mile = 307.5 miles of range. Just for the math.

In the current trip, he drove 10 miles in 20 minutes, averaging 30 mph...

LoL - Well, you didn't say anything about school, so I didn't think it was uphill both ways... 🤣

Something I've noticed, compared to my previous '15 Model S... I do the same return trip to the dog park most mornings with my Doods, with the S and now the CT. Down a hill and through some city intersections to the highway on ramp. 60 MPH uphill to the exit, a couple more traffic signals and a steep section to the park. Trip to the park is net uphill. Return is obviously net downhill.

That return trip was always 10-15% over rated consumption in the S. In the truck it's typically 8-9% BELOW rated consumption. 🤔

Being an engineer, I'm of course completely unable to not notice that. And completely unable to let it go and not ponder why... 🤦‍♂️😎

Perhaps it has something to do with wind resistance and the speeds that go into calculating rated consumption. Or maybe regen efficiency has improved significantly over the years. Or perhaps a combination of both. But regardless, it's a significant difference that intrigues me.

I know there are a lot of influencing factors but just driving around Atlanta doing normal life stuff and I'm pleasantly surprised with the Wh/mi. These are about like my old 2021 Model Y numbers!
This current drive was:
  • 95% FSD
  • 50psi Core tires w/no covers
  • 35-45mph backroads w/traffic lights
  • 3x adults
  • No cargo
  • AWD
  • Tonneau closed
  • 68° & dry
  • A/C set to 67

That's similar to what I've been getting on my Pirellis. In 2790 miles, I've driven 20% highway, at 75-80mph, and 80% surface roads, at 45-55mph.
Tesla Cybertruck Range getting better and better IMG_2183

My average is about 335Wh/mi. I'm guessing the highway efficiency was about 405Wh/mi, and the surface road efficiency was about 320Wh/mi. Obviously, when the conditions are optimal, I can get under 300Wh/mi, like my last 20mi trip.

Commute numbers today in the attached picture. Overall average still coming down.

No highway, just Atlanta area local, 35-45mph roads with stop & go traffic lights on FSD. Sitting still for some of the trip at red lights, thus the low average MPH on the screen. Actual driving average speed higher, although still under highway speed.

Regardless, this is not a flex post. My whole point is to measure MY range and share excitement about what I am getting doing MY everyday commuting and errands, not any commentary on scenarios like road trip highway range or towing/hauling range or winter range, just this scenario.

Like the rest of you, I've been evaluating and imagining the possibilities of what I can do with this truck since that night I placed my pre-order in November 2019. How far will I be able to go under various circumstances? What will that mean about strategies for pulling a boat or camper, charging at hotels, campgrounds, superchargers, at home or at a family member's house? What variables will make me more efficient? How can I hypermile?

It's all a big game to me and part of the fun to play with and evaluate now that I finally own my personal Back to the Future DeLorean / F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter jet, Galvatron.

With only about 70,000 to 80,000 of us having taken the leap to own one for various reasons, it’s great to have a place to share the camaraderie and excitement of discovering all the small details that make this truck one of life’s greatest joys; top 10 on my list of life's vanities. Don't the wheel covers offer a pretty surprising range bump?

Sorry. I wasn't trying to poop on your parade. I also enjoy better than expected Wh/mi in my truck. My efficiency is also because I don't drive 75-85 everywhere I go. (The point I was making was supposed to be "slower=better") The highway I drive on is a 55mph by law / 70mph in reality road. However, traffic keeps my daily average speed probably under 50mph which leads to really good efficiency. I can't approach that on road trips but am enjoying the daily efficiency.

No shade taken, just level setting.

Good point! I'm not using the covers around town. I prefer the look of the uncovered wheel with center caps. If I do a road trip I might pop them on for high-speed aerodynamics.
The Cybertruck probably gets slightly better efficiency around town without the aero wheel covers (due to considerably less rotational inertia) and at speeds above 70 mph significantly better efficiency with the aero covers (aero gains are pretty insignificant at speeds below 50 mph).

Caveat: Tesla redesigned the aero covers to stand proud so they don't rub on the tire's sidewalls. The new design almost certainly adds less efficiency gain than the old covers.

I'm really not planning to keep posting every day, but it keeps getting better on the same, round trip commute. I assume it will eventually reach a bottom Wh/mi on this route.

You're going under 30mph, which is crazy. I guess cool? At that slow of speeds regen is going to make a massive difference in wh/mi.

Free supercharging for a year. Tonneau open, highest suspension, no wheel covers, unnecessary luggage rack, constantly ripping it from full stop... here I come!

It would be more accurate to say he is averaging under 30 mph for his commute. We have no idea how fast he's actually driving because the trip computer keeps running at stop lights, etc. And it doesn't take long going zero mph to really bring your average speed down.
