How to get the CT to maintain a minimum speed on a 80 MPH Limit interstate?

Driving out west where they have those big speed limits of 75 or even 80, I find FSD very annoying because it keeps slowing down and I have yet to get it to maintain a speed of 83, 84 or 85, without have to nudge it back up. It will hold it a minute (at most) and then slow back down. The CT hard speed limit for FSD is 85 which if you exceed you get deactived for the rest of that driving session; not a StrikeOut, so you just have to stop, get out and get back in to reset it. I do put the CT in Hurry mode while on these fast interstates. Is there another setting? I've search the Autopilot settings.

The right track wheel can be used to keep the CT at or under your Maximum speed setting; that works well. Who can tell me how to magically get that Minimum track wheel (when safe) to maintain that speed? I understand that FSD might think the road is not worthy of 85 but when the Speed Limit is 80, and the road is smooth, dry, daytime, not crowded, it should handle that IMHO. Yes, I understand that it is not energy efficient but when going from NJ to SoCal (or back) with about 40 hours of driving, efficiency is not my top concern.

Thanks in advance for your insights.

FSD is constantly calculating what it feels like is a "safe speed" to travel down the road. There are a multitude of factors including congestion, frequency of interchange ramps, behavior of other drivers, road conditions, weather conditions, etc.

We take these parameters for granted because it has become 2nd nature to us; whereas FSD has to make quantifiable risk calculations.

I don't think there is a way to set the speed for FSD, unlike a cruise control lets say. You can set the maximum speed it is allowed to go with the scroll wheel, but that doesn't mean it'll do it - it just won't exceed it.

negative offset would do it
feature request for such a use case

This is my biggest complaint about the Cybertruck. I want it to just be set at a speed, unless I has to slow down to match the speed of a car in front of me.

Also recently I got a loaner from Tesla,Model X plaid, with a governed top speed of 85, and when I got there I would just lose power and not be able to go any faster. I wish FSD would do that, instead of deactivate and not reenable for the rest of the trip. Also when it deactivates, for “safety“, it beeps at you flashes the dash and becomes very “what the hell is going on”, at a time that I’m having to accelerate due to something that requires my full attention. Thanks safety.

You can try changing speed limit from relative to absolute, and changing your offset to 0%

You can already kinda do this with the scroll wheel. If you're in an 80 and want to go 75, use the scroll wheel and set the limit to 75, it won't exceed that speed.

Depending on the features and model of your truck, you can maintain a selected speed by (while in park) switch from FSD to adaptive cruse control. The truck will maintain the lane and the preset distance (car lengths) between vehicles. However, you have to steer the truck in this mode. The FOUNDATIONS have this option. I'm not sure how deep into the VIN count this option goes.

All CTs have TACC.

I’m in OP’s boat, live out West and want to maintain 85 in FSD but mine behaves like OP’s, always slowing to 81, 79, needs a throttle nudge back up but rarely maintains mid-80s speeds for long. I drove UT-VT-UT this summer and spent half the time yelling at FSD, the other half just driving manually.
When we first received FSD in the Cybertruck it was much better at maintaining set speed around 85, wish I hadn’t updated from that point cause highway driving FSD has devolved while city driving has become pretty amazing. But I only care about FSD for these long road trips so I wish it was the other way around or we had auto steer to make it an EAP system.

lol gl negotiating with FSD

Tesla should allow some customized parameter, such as maintain speed, maintain lane, maintain distance, allow yield, etc.

I'm definitely with you on yelling at the truck! I engage manually and drive only when I know I'll be over the 85 FSD limit and well below the CT limit!

So, we are saying there is room for improvements? Ha
I moved my FSD to “50%” of whatever they call it and it seems to do fine the last few trips.
However, this is something that has to be configured differently in future updates. The current approach is too different from the standard the general driver operates during. In my opinion.
Or else, change the wording so the driver knows what to select for the desired outcome.
