I prefer they offer it as free, but I’ll take that too.
I prefer they offer the entire truck for free! In fact, shouldn't Tesla pay us to take delivery and drive them around and advertise for them? 🤷‍♂️

Don't get me wrong, I'm not an entitled SOB, I just like to get a good deal! ;)

I like the word "free", but I'll probably spend less than $500/yr Supercharging (if that).
My other car is a Model 3 Performance with Free Supercharging for Life. Since I got the Cybertruck a year and a half ago I've driven the Model 3 Performance with free charging an average of 0.3 miles per day! Even during the 7 years that it was my primary car, I only used around $50/year of free Supercharging.

I laugh at people who get a Tesla with free Supercharging and then sit at their local Supercharger reading a book, playing games or watching a movie just to save $10 bucks off their home electric bill. I guess some people are drawn like moths to a light whenever something is "free". It's like their life has no value.

How does one get lifetime free supercharging on a m3p? Transfer from an older car?

I bought it during a promotion in September 2018, end of the quarter sales push. It's a very fond memory taking delivery that sunny day in the end of September, our second Model 3 (and the Free Supercharging for Life had little to do with it). Now my wife has an updated M3P (2024) and it's an even more stunning car, both in comfort and performance. Not to mention the better styling.

No off road light bar for the Luxe Beast? Anyway us early takers (on or before May 2024) were optioned with the 4k PowerShare installation credit & 2.5k gateway/Universal Wall charger. If you look at the value proposition the FSB was the right fit for me. All the other stuff tire rotation ect I do myself. Insofar as free supercharging I still have free credits which I have rarely used.

in California, charging a CB at home (even with solar system) with average mileage is well over $1000 per year. I’ve got plenty of local superchargers near where I live and frequently park. The savings would add up for sure, especially accounting for increasing PGE rates over time.

I see this as partially a competitive response to other other automakers with native NACS ports recently available (think lucid/rivian). Buyers now get to choose between paying whatever Tesla chooses to charge for supercharging or free!

I don't get the humor.
So "reading a book, playing games or watching a movie" at home while spending money on electricity is good.
But "reading a book, playing games or watching a movie" while getting free charging and free air conditioning (or heat) is bad?
$10 is over an hour of work at the federal minimum wage. The scenario also assumes they have charging at their residence.

Life value:
$10 @ $0.20kWh = 50kWh @ 300 Wh/mile = 167 miles.
At 12k miles a year, 3,600 kWh @ $0.20 = $720 or two and a half weeks of minimum wage with no taxes. 20% fed tax 4% state 6% FICA, $1,028 pre tax. At a salary of $53k, that Supercharging is economically equivilent to a week of work. If their employer allows buying PTO, they are trading 20 minutes once or twice a week (~25 hours total) for a week of vacation (with free travel) or the spending power of 40 hours of labor.
Breakeven at ~$95k salary.

So are you saying if you make more then $95k a year the free supercharging isn’t worth it?

When Tesla drops the price of a particular model, there is a certain kind of Tesla owner whose brain short-circuits and they demand a refund for the vehicle they bought at the higher price.

Now that Tesla has raised the price, shouldn't everyone who bought recently at lower prices send a check for the difference in value to Tesla? 🤪
Ohhh how the tables have turned!

Touche, but since I bought the FSCB I’m still under the water. However, I do appreciate Tesla doing this. I’m sure it will help the spiral depreciation of my CB.

Oh, free wheel caps, too, which Tesla sent after the wheel covers had been delivered. Ironically, I don't use either; still have black lug covers and the cheapest black plastic hub insert that was available in those early days.

Free Powershare has been great. Probably a higher ROI than free supercharging would have been with >99.5% charging at home.

Even the lightbar has finally been received so all is right with the world...until it's time for tires...

I think the reason Tesla doesn't give away free super charging, is do to all the people here who justify sitting in there car to charge to save a few bucks a year on their electric bill. When the purpose of super charging is road trips to make it to your final destination.
I would be very happy with a $1000 worth of free super charging a year, or even better, free supercharging, starting at 50 miles away from your home address.

I might be the majority or maybe the minority, but even when I had free supercharging with my other Tesla vehicles I hardly used it. Maybe 3 or 4 times. That was due to me forgetting to charge at home and was running low. From reading, people who use the network often are the ones who don’t live in a home. Rather they live in either an apartment or condo where charging is limited or none at all. However, you really can’t fault them and neither should Tesla. They are after all buying a Tesla. I do agree with you, there should be some limitations but how and what is the question.

Free charging always saves money but costs time versus plugging in to level 1/2 and leaving the vehicle. That's a ballpark estimate of when the wage value of the time spent charging equals the cost of the charging.
