Attempted to buy a CT Demo

I know what mud does to wheel cylinders, brakes and anything mechanical, I have been an avid offroader in Toyotas for 20+ years. That truck needs to be disassembled to be cleaned properly, the mud and rocks are lodged everywhere, all th way up to the air filter. The front bumper is damaged and the small fairing is ripped off. All the wheel covers are toast too.

I see what you mean, the front left fairing is definitely gone… tbh if if i were you id find a contact for a regional manager or even directly contact someone on social media and share your experience. I may expect this going to buy a used ATV on cragslist… gosh

Tesla makes excellent vehicles. The service they provide varies wildly from location to location. Calling them out when things are poor is a means to spark improvement, so yes.

I said attempted, I would never accept a truck anywhere close to this condition. I rejected and told everyone I could they were assholes for trying to deliver a truck in this condition and rejected it.

on a serious note, you should escalate, quality control with customer service is important and Elon has expressed interest in improving this. I’ve gotten the vibe from Tesla workers that they don’t care, I’ve personally had better experiences with Legacy.

Fair point. He didn’t explicitly ask for advice but I implicitly took his post to mean, “what do I do next?” and “be aware this can happen if you buy a demo”.
So I own that. Your interpretation is probably more accurate.
That said, he’s already gotten some useful advice like try and contact a regional manager and I know reading will probably give ME pause about choosing a demo version over new the next time I buy an off-road capable Tesla.
On the subject of crying though, at least in my marriage, learning to just “listen” to each other and make each other feel heard rather than the conversation always being about practical solutions was very important.
Maybe this guy just wants to vent his rage here so he doesn’t go in and punch one of the dudes rather than just call them assholes the next time he goes to the store.

Honestly not trying to pick a fight. Just responded that way because what you said is not something one would consider “nice” and I bet if you polled the audience they’d agree with that.
I enjoy hanging out here partially because people seem a lot nicer to each other than other shitty online communities and I’m just trying to protect that.

Tesla is notoriously difficult to communicate with, particularly in getting contact with a live human. (This is the norm of the new internet economy: try getting someone from Amazon on the phone!)

Often, posting online will get a quicker response, because public-facing customer issues are a PR problem.

I'd post this on X to get some traction.

Arranged to buy a CT demo with a little over 1.9K for a $3800 discount, boy was that a mistake. This truck was driven/abused offroad and had mud up inside everywhere, the pictures are from the delivery area after they cleaned it. Passed Tesla's supposed inspection process and the detailing team just must of said to hell with it. I will never buy a demo ever again, I don't care how many of you have positive stories, this truck was jacked up and Tesla was pleased as punch to assign it me. They even said "well it is a demo", how can anybody think this was OK? Nothing would even be able to be warrantied, they would blame everything on off road damage and mud.

Edit: Yes, I declined delivery, I did not make this clear the first time.

Bad detailing company, they should never deliver a vehicle in that condition. My CT has marks from the delivery truck, and was never washed at the time of delivery. Tesla is poor in that area, in the delivery process. Even not one teaches you anything when you go to pick up the car. We bought 4 new Teslas since 2019, not even once; some offer a lesson. "Oh, you have Teslas before, you don't need instruction." It's the same. No, it's not the same; technologies change from model to model. Bad Tesla.

Update: My order is on hold at the moment as the General Manager is trying to locate a new CT AWD with white interior/cyber wheels (free on a lease). I have also emailed corporate with my experience and the photos of the truck at delivery.

Here is the backstory, I was attempting to purchase a 2025 CT while the $7500 lease incentive was in place because Tesla is buying back my current 2024 CT that has a GPS drift issue where the truck looses it's location during Navigation + FSD and does a lot of unexpected unsafe crap (missed highway off-ramps, many random lane changes, turning the wrong way down one way streets, left turn signal activation while in the fast lane of a highway, rerouting me to get back on the highway I am physically already on every 30-45 seconds). Tesla has been unable to fix in 5 visits, will not replace the computer (where I believe the issue is), and it has been in service well over 30 days in 10 months.

To be honest, I am about done with Tesla and close to becoming a non-consumer of Tesla products. So, if you had a CT being bought back and wanted another truck to replace it, what would you buy? I am interested to hear what other CT owners/fans think.

Look. I know you’re pissed, but what happened to you likely happened because of some near minimum wage turd screwing up, not Tesla as a whole. I feel like whether they make this right or not, choosing a different car is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
