Just a thought question. Will Tesla release a new/refreshed cybertruck in the next few years? Thinking about it the other day and this (initial) design is already over 6 years old. I am very curious what tesla will do over the next 6 years.

Tesla is unpredictable, but in the past, they have not refreshed their lineup as frequently as most traditional automakers.

Model S: introduced 2012, first major update in 2016
Model X: introduced 2015, first major update in 2021
Model 3: introduced 2017, first major update in 2023
Model Y: introduced 2020, first major update in 2025

So with older models, the first major updates have occurred about 4-6 years after introduction. The Cybertruck was introduced in late 2023, so if the same schedule is followed, the first major update could happen around 2027-2029.

As far as I know, Tesla has not dropped any hints about a Cybertruck refresh. If anything, Tesla might be less likely to refresh the CT, because of the stainless steel body. Stainless steel is difficult to work with, which could make it harder to develop and implement even small changes.
The Model S is more or less the same as it was 13 years ago.
None of the updates are radical redesigns. The average person might not see much difference between the oldest and newest Model S or Model X. The newest Model 3 and Model Y are easily distinguished by the front lightbar, but that's basically just a cosmetic feature.

I think they will. They need to sell in other markets.

Tesla's original "Master Plan" was to build expensive, low-volume vehicles, then use the profits to build inexpensive, high-volume vehicles.

In 2012, Tesla introduced an expensive, low-volume sedan (Model S). In 2017, they followed up with a smaller, less expensive, high-volume sedan (Model 3).

In 2015, Tesla introduced an expensive, low-volume SUV (Model X). In 2020, they followed up with a smaller, less expensive, high-volume SUV (Model Y).

In 2023, Tesla introduced an expensive, low-volume pickup (Cybertruck). They followed up with ... ??

Seems like there could be a global market for a smaller, less expensive, high-volume pickup. But there are no signs that Tesla is moving in that direction. They seem more focused on fully autonomous vehicles, like the Cybercab. I suspect that the first small EV pickup is more likely to come from Slate, Kia, or Ford.

Sold under 70k total in two years out of 250k a year on initial estimated 5 year waiting list, so let’s say “NO” to your question.

Cancelled the $25k car and now can’t sell these…

The new standard Tesla Model 3 and Model Y are here with updated features and incredible value. Model 3 Standard starts at $36,990, and Model Y Standard at $39,990.

Modifying the SS style line would make for a simple exterior refresh.

This new crease would also eliminate any SS door/mirror fluttering at high speeds since it’s no longer subject to low pressure zone flat panel vibrations.

Your correct but there are laps in the timing, making look as is it was S -> 3, X -> Y, CT -> ?. But it was actually S -> X(for the people wanting SUV), the 3 -> Y(for the people wanting SUV). So it was supposed to be HighCost low volume(S,X) then low cost high volume(3,Y, CT). CyberTruck was the cheapest EV truck planned, $40,000 base model, with a plant that could produce 250,000 a year, and back order for the first 16 years(4 million orders 250k a year). But ended up being way more expensive and all the orders falling through. Tesla is still making a killing on 3 and Y, so they will probably just take it easy for a while. At least until the CT sales cover the cost of design and development. And a redesign anytime soon would almost be an admission of poor design and failure(I do not think that)

No from me too.

They may honestly never redo the body. It might get a mini refresh someday, like redesigned bumpers and new wheel designs like the S/X got this year, but I’d be surprised to ever see more than that. And I’m with the masses in that I think it’s still a few years before a refresh of any kind.

OK, you could look at it that way. Today, it's easy to think of the CT as a "high-cost, low-volume" option (like the S/X). But alternatively, the CT could be considered an attempt at a "low-cost, high-volume" option (like the 3/Y) that just failed to meet those goals.

But either way, the bottom line is that Tesla currently doesn't have a "low-cost, high-volume" EV pickup. And to be fair, neither does anyone else. But someone will fill the gap someday.

I think we will see Cybertruck 1.5 is less than 5 years.

They still have a massive police fleet ahead of them.

I think a 2028-2029 refresh is likely with:
- updated battery cells = lower weight and longer range
- updated motors = more power and torque while being more efficient
- new tires = more efficient compound, like with the new Y
- maybe contrast color seats, a lighter interior color option

anything else, like the terrestrial armor, is coming via accessories and I expect to see more options here as time goes on

Those seem like plausible changes. Might not significantly change the exterior appearance of the CT, but Tesla might not care about that.
