For different types of travel, I have used a trailer, a rooftop tent, the truck bed, the front seat, and the back seat. I thought I’d share my back seat solution for those who might want to travel lean.

I know there are commercially available air mattresses which fills up the back seat and levels it out but also takes up the floor space. I opted not to use them instead I've made my own platform which gives me a comfortable sleeping space and retains the storage and provides additional utility.

Here's how I set up to sleep in the back seat:

Part 1: The Platform
Part 2: Block out the light
Part 3: Setup the Environment
  • Make a new driver profile i.e. “SLEEP”
In this driver profile, set the position for the drivers seat far forward to give more space in the back seat.
  • Enable Camp Mode from within the temp control panel.

Are you using the @Teslaunch Front Windshield cover as well? How’s the quality?
I am. Quality is okay. It's slotted for the mirror. The visors hold it in place. Edge coverage could be better, but is more than acceptable. This is far preferable to trying to design my own solution.

This looks extremely cool and I applaud the ingenuity but I guess I’m just not hardcore enough. Mad props not just for building it but using it.
The thought that goes through my mind when I see this is, “hmmm, the nasty motel 6 at the end of the street has a bigger bed and I probably won’t need as much ibuprofen in the morning.”
Shame on me.

My custom profile would be called SEXYTIME

Y’all are lucky @That Beast Mode isn’t also here or this thing would be headed way off the rails with both of us.

Part 4: Daytime

If you store the board inside the cabin during the day,
would you mind showing where and how it look like.
Could the board fit inside the frunk? If so, could show it.

Note: I wonder how acrobatic is the ingress and egress?

How high from the ground is the board when installed?
Do you lower the suspension?
Is it easy to jump inside? can you use the door sill as a step?
When exiting from the car, do you put both legs outside together,
or can you put only one foot on the ground at a time?

Well, I hope Tesla will make soon an SUV version of the Cybertruck!!!

It would be nice, at least, if the front (passenger and driver) seats would fold flat (backward or forward) to be able to stretch the legs...

Talking about stretching legs, I also notice this solution for sleeping flat inside the Cybertruck:

A new way to sleep comfortably in the Cybertruck cabin

Wish the driver/passenger seat rotated so you could have seats facing each other.
Me too. Also sometimes wish they had stuck with the middle seat in the front idea.

Pretty cool! I saw another post like a year ago where someone made bunk beds in back seat. Seats folded up and platform on top of the folded seats. And another sleep spot on the floor raised up sitting on top of the seat rests. Wish I could find that post. That would work great for my kids while we are in cybertent.

@CyberTrk
I put the other two legs on and use as a low table. During my last trip, I left it in place while driving. It takes almost no space.

It doesn't fit in the frunk, as I maximized the size. If you don't mind a smaller sleeping surface, a frunk size probably could be made.

During entry. I leave the truck in a lower position. I sit in the seat, remove shoes and store in the door, slide in and shut the door. Reverse to exit. No steps required.

Oh I'm still here.... I'm just severely hobbled by the crappy internet connection, so our meme AI generating goodness duo is out of commission for a few days. They can make world class 3D rides, but they can't fix the wifi. This is the extent of it until I get back.

So far we have chickened out of the Disney and universal thing. Our kids are 7, 5 and 18 months so we do LEGOLAND which somehow feels less intimidating.
You and your expert grokking will be missed until you return but sounds like you’re in parenting nam right now. Focus. You got this. You just need to get everyone home safely and then pay the credit card bill over the next year and a half or so. 😄
