My wife and I sold both our Model Ys and bought 2 x cybertruck in July. Absolutely delighted and even drove 4500 miles from south Florida to Maine and back, almost entirely in FSD.
But then the problems started on both trucks with offset steering wheels, ever increasing rattling noise on the steering wheel cover, clunk noise when accelerating and breaking, and although made a written report and requested service, it has been postponed due to the SC being overwhelmed and they are giving priority to safety issues…
I just read the Cybertruck manage left Tesla, and with so many projects ahead, are cybertrucks being pushed as a non priority product?
Thank you for your thoughts. I hope our concerns are unfounded.

But, your concerns are yours and that's okay. I don't know why a service center would be "overwhelmed".
Reboot the truck from the screen menu (not the scroll wheel reset). This may fix the steering wheels. I haven't heard of that type of issue with the trucks and it's odd you'd have two with the same problem.

The rattling from the steering wheel cover is a $0.04 fix with a foam ear plug. It's a big piece of plastic there that's just rattling against another piece. Yes, it's not supposed to rattle but, it's not worth the hassle of going in so Tesla can put a piece of foam there. Well, it wasn't to me. But you do you.

The clunking sounds like a service center visit to me... unless you have something stored somewhere that's just rocking or rolling on acceleration and braking like a bowling ball in the smuggler's bay...

The Cybertruck was never a non-priority vehicle. It didn't sell as well as Tesla had hoped. That's probably directly related to the high price and lower range. But it's still a technological beast.

Best to you in your effort to assuage your concerns.

Relax, I own a Foundation Beast with 18k miles, and I bet the clunk under acceleration is the fact that the front wheels are doing most of the acceleration, and if you think about it that means as you hit a bump, the torque of the wheel is enhancing the motion upwards on the suspension, making it seem like your hitting the bump much harder. Kyle from "Out of Spec Review" () also posts on this and is why he would rather have the two motor CT version vs the beast...........

While I understand your frustration, comparing a model Y to a CT is not really fair and I don't think it's cause to lose faith. The model Y is the best selling car around and very well polished at this point with millions of miles behind it. The CT is a brand new thing and loads of new tech that has yet to have that much real world experience. Just make your SC appointments and they will fix it. FYI I own both a Y and a CT, the CT does have its share of issues, but nothing that can't be fixed, as they get more experience they will get better at fixing things too.

Would you happen to have a picture where you put that foam ear plug piece? I'll get to fixing my piece once it loose again..

I actually don't. I reached down and put my foam ear protector in the first crack between panels on the lower side of the steering wheel. I figured I'd try it there for a while and move it if needed. I'll try to get a picture of it this afternoon.

Honestly, I forgot I had done this. It's hard to notice things that aren't there so I just haven't thought about it.

I thank you all for the encouragement. I will continue to insist with the SC to fix all the issues. We really love both CTs but we were surprised with so many issues, compared to the model Ys (zero problems) and the comments from SC that those are the characteristics of CT and quasi I have to live with it…
Thank you

also work building the great relationships with the service center, they love food gifts
get to know the overall site leader and the service department manager
my local center loves me, we never wait for appointments and they go the distance after we developed these relationships
be nice, goes a long way

I have had 0 problems with mine. picked-up Aug 22 and so far so good. A guy in my community put over 60k with minor issues. I also have a MYP which has been flawless up to now. Hopefully you will get these issues resolved. Try the Miami Gardens SC.

Not sure if its the same issue but on the underside of the steering column cover there is a plastic tab that is prone to vibrate if you have the steering wheel at max telescope out. It can be fixed by adjusting the steering wheel in a couple of millimeters.

not sure what you mean by offset steering wheels? Are you saying the wheels dont sit at 0 degrees of rotation for the truck to go straight? If thats the case, you can go into the service menu and see ecaxtly how many degrees it is off. You may need a wheel alignment.

Regarding clunking sound during acceleration/braking- where in the vehicle does it seem to from? Front? Rear? Left/right? Inside/outside? Underneath? I recommend recording the sound when it happens, and documenting.

the SC you choose cant really deny your appointment, but it may not get in right away unless your vehicle is not safe to drive. Rest assured, most SC’s will go out of their way to make sure you are at least satisfied with what they do, even if that is just reassurance that nothing is wrong. Quite a few have had bad experiences but usually persistence, escalation up chain of command and good documentation yields a reasonable solution.

ultimately, if you have issues that cant be resolved or multiple issues that require repeat service appointments, you can request that Tesla buy back the CT. Many including myself have had success achieving that when their trucks turned out to be straight duds or just had too many issues for them. My current CT has had 5 service visits and many parts replaced under warranty in just under 8 months. I told myself that in buying the second one that there would be problems that needed rectification and that the SC would do that. But i am also contemplating the risk of what do i do after warranty expires… its a lot to think about and no one should have these kind of issues with their vehicle but also there is no other vehicle or company like this one…. Pros and cons i guess.

Not sure why I bought the CT over a year ago and never a fan of EV's...............but I did and GLAD I did.
Only have about 7K miles on it and no major issues (windshield washer, brake dust on wheels). Can't really complain since this is a totally new concept vehicle with lots of new technology. Some folks on here have zero patience with their CT and expect total perfection. Given all it's high points, I think we need to live with a few downsides.

I do the same, honestly I started bringing in Dunkin Donuts to the SC staff during all the Elon protests.. Felt bad for the young guys working there, and having to deal with all the idiots outside their workspace.. And now it's become standard practice for me to bring something in for them, it's $10-$15 of food to make someone's day, and that amount of money won't make or break me..

Your Cybertruck is a unique one of a kind vehicle. It was a ballsy move by Tesla and also a ballsy move by you to buy two of them!

Is it perfect? No— far from it. Was it ever going to be? No. Nothing man-made is.

I speak plainly and will heap criticism on Tesla/Elon when it’s deserved undeterred by any of the speech police that populate this forum, that said, while you’re concerns are valid you need to consider them in context.

You could spend your money ($4 million of it) on a Aston Martin Valkyrie, but those cars are riddled with software problems and hardware problems like you wouldn’t believe. It’s not apples to apples but we’re talking about the same basic concept of trade-offs.

If you look at it that way, you (we) got off easy. Bleeding edge tech trivial cost in comparison.

Dalton, as you noticed, we love our CTs. My wife and I believe it is the best cars we ever had, and we have lots of plans to travel with it (we did Fort Lauderdale to Maine and back) next year we want to go to lake Louise, Jasper, Banff etc and 2027 up to Anchorage in Alaska. The reason for my comments was the disappointment of having sent the car for repair, it was returned as fixed, we requested another appointment in September, they gave us mid November, and now postponed to Dec 26, under the excuse that it did not represented a safety issue…
I will be patiently and bring it there when they have an opening. Hopefully it will be resolved.
Thank you you all for the encouraging words. It helped.
