You are correct. It’s completely idiotic.I could be wrong, but i dont think the CT is compatible with Homelink. They switched it to MyQ which needs yet another subscription. You can use it free on your phone, but for Tesla you need a subscription.
Yes, in my CarPlay vehicles, the “dashboard view” will just show your garage doors when you get close, no need for a shortcut. I bought a couple of these, work with almost any garage door. Also I would see if they have a Matter version instead of HomeKit, it’ll be more compatible and work better. This is where carplay MIGHT help. I think you can use Apple shortcuts with it and there are plenty of homekit compatible garage door openers iirc.
you can buy a kit from chamberlain to make it MyQ compatible for any opener. It’s cheap too, like 30 bucksThe biggest problem with the MyQ system is that it requires specific garage door openers, and it works with few of the gate openers. And many folks don't have an adequate Wi-Fi signal out where a gate controller is located. The lack of a HomeLink module in the CT is one of its biggest shortcomings as far as I'm concerned.
I have both too. In what way is it superior other than being able to tell you the door status (open or closed) ?I have both - myQ is superior aside from the internet requirement.
I am confused as well.I have both too. In what way is it superior other than being able to tell you the door status (open or closed) ?
Same with our x. Much prefer it with home link.I am confused as well.
Homelink is quicker, can stop operations mid open/close, doesn't have that odd transition from internet to cell, etc.
I have homelink on my MS and it's vastly superior than the MYQ in the CT.
