Last night, I was driving 3 kids home with FSD activated.

The truck abruptly slowed to 20 mph for apparently no reason, which was frustrating.

Just as I was about to intervene, a huge Axis buck ran right in front of us.

If I didn’t have FSD on, there’s no doubt in my mind I would have hit it head on.

Elon said that with the latest update of FSD (v. 14), you’ll think your Tesla is sentient.

Last night was one of those experiences!

📐 FTW!

I was stopped at a light last week late at night and very little light. Some guy on a bike flew across the road after the light change. I didn't see him at all, but FSD was on and I was confused why it wasn't moving. I saw the guy about the time he hit my headlights, the truck to my right had already started driving forward and slammed back on the brakes to not hit him.

Had I not been FSD, I am certain I would have hit him because I had zero idea he was there until he was in my headlights.

For years the naysayers have said the cameras can't see in the dark. But digital cameras have something called "gain" that can be instantly turned up or down with fluctuating light levels. Not only do your eyes take longer to respond, the cameras can literally see in near complete darkness, something humans cannot do.

Congrats on avoiding the deer strike, much saved time and money!
This is comforting to know since I worry if I can't see then CT can't see either. I was driving several times thinking the FSD is blind and this is dangerous on windy dark roads at night.

My truck sees deer almost every day in my drive. I have so little traffic in my commute but the deer terrorize me. This vid is from Tuesday. Love the trucks’ ability to anticipate and slow down. It zips by when deer are just standing there, however!

It's hard to imagine how short-sighted or ignorant someone has to be to speak out against this technology based on safety. People who delay the availability of FSD in various markets will have blood on their hands and be directly responsible for much pain and suffering/economic hardship..

Last night, I was heading home from Five Guys. Yeah, it was healthy eating night... Anyway, 4 or 5 deer ran out in front of me. I mean, I was pulling into my driveway but still... It was kind of funny. One ran off to the right immediately; one crossed to the left... then waited... then crossed back to the right. The others ran to the left. You just don't know what those things are going to do.

Be safe out there!

I’ll start using FSD more when traveling at night. I’ve been “hit” twice this year by animals. Neither time did I have FSD turned on. But it’d be nice if it actually saves me in the future from another dead deer/animal and another insurance claim/deductible.

Unfortunately I don't have the dashcam clip of this (I forgot to save it) but, the first time I was trying out 14.1.7, I was on a two-lane road with a cyclist in the bike lane to my right. He checked over his shoulder as if to come into my lane, but the upcoming left turn was far enough ahead that I let FSD continue on. Then he darted into my lane anyway! What I hadn't noticed was that another cyclist was in front of him and she was going slower. He wasn't setting up to turn left, he was passing--just as I was passing him. And I have no idea how he didn't see me.
FSD 14 reacted instantly. Both braked and moved left in the lane. Saved that dude's ass, and quicker than I could've. It let him complete the maneuver and then continued past him as he re-entered the bike lane. Perfect reaction and I was amazed by the speed.

I was thinking about this just last night. My cameras at the house can see at night using infrared lights. Can the CT/Does the CT have infrared light mixed in with the headlights?
Good question

My 📐 swerved to avoid a flock of doped up angry birds that flew right in the path of the windshield while we're doing at least 55mph on FSD V14. I have never seen CB done this before. Then the next day it dodged a kamikaze animal that ran out onto the street and was heading straight for my 📐.
Pretty cool stuff happening to FSD😎
