Lots of conflicting talk. Honestly I haven’t read it all yet. I just got the update. Should I do it???!!! (I have a cross country road trip in two weeks) will I be better off sticking to 14.1.7?

I have 14.2. Regret. Stick with 14.1.7.

14.2 gave me the “red alert to take over” for no damn good reason on an empty highway this morning!

I think 14.1.7 is better on the highway, especially if you want to go 80mph or near it. 14.2 struggles with maintaining speed and wants to go 74 at mad max too often, even if traffic is passing me.

Drove today and it was raining. FSD 14.2 did a great job in the weather, holiday traffic, and construction work on my route. Very smooth and intuitive during lane changes in "Mad Max" mode. Super slow and boring in "Sloth" mode. Between those extremes everyone should be able to discover their "Happy Place" for daily driving. I watched a video interview of Elon describing the future of AI infused FSD and how it would disrupt transportation and people's expectations about how a vehicle should operate he gave several years ago. I believe FSD V14 has delivered on that promise.

Lol yeah every new fsd update is like this. Some hate it and some love or like it. I think it’s really good. It’s a lot smoother than 14.1.7. The profiles are slower though so you need to get used to that.

Try cleaning the front camera thats behind the rear view mirror. That solved a lot of my problems.

My subjective observation is that attention alerts occur much more frequently if I’m wearing a hat with a brim while driving. I’ve made a habit of removing my hat in the truck and it seems to have reduced the number of alerts.
Actually got a "hat is interfering with monitoring" message the other day.

I would absolutely revert to 14.1.7 if i could.

Two weeks, id guess we get a 14.2.1 by then to fix the speed issues, but who knows.

I have 14.1.7 and my long-distance drive to Texas was great. I love the new speed selection with Sloth, chill, standard, hurry and mad max. So much better than trying to roll up and down the mph. The bad weather FSD reduced speed because the sensor was clouded. Every once in a while, the car wanted swerve around something and scared the shit out of me. I am thinking the rain on asphalt repairs was more shinny perhaps it thought it was a hole. Not anticipating this really catches you off guard.
I've got a stretch of country road with weird patchy repairs bordered by shiny sealant - and no lines - that almost always give me an odd reaction.

Also, here is the ugly rear end of the new Waymo vehicle, Zeekr. All that headgear just to do what Tesla's do without for autonomous.

These blob cars look awful.

Yes, the Cybertruck has spoiled me.

14.2 is making wide turns for me. Feels like I’m navigating a roundabout turn. Both right and left turns to the point I cross into opposing traffic lanes. I’m not seeing any other reports though 🤔
I just did our first ride and this is the glaring issue for me. All city, no highway. It's making super wide turns (in intersections, into driveway, etc.). To the point of not staying in its own lane when going through the turn. It' getting also very close to parked cars as it makes the turn. I would have imagined this would be widely reported. But your post is about the only one I have seen reporting what I am experiencing as well.

Yes, I was quite surprised nobody reported this. It’s a major issue for me and I’m not using FSD as much as I’d like now.

What is different about our cars that nobody else is seeing this??
