cheap fuel has gotten to the point where I’m now paying more for electricity in Connecticut compared to gas. Never thought gas would be $2.69 a gallon. My utility rate is .44 p/kw which pushed my cost over gas. Just F’ng shocking. I don’t miss gas stations, but the “EV’s are cheaper” argument is out the window!

the longer you hold on to your EV, the cheaper it gets. also if you leave your car “running and ready to drive” in your garage, it will not kill you.

China making more electric power from just their solar and hydro than the US makes from anything just makes the the US look like morons.

But off peak home charging as much as possible and the maintenance reduction.... Still beats cheap gas by a long shot.

It's about equal for the energy used vs a efficient FS ICE truck at that electric cost but.. .44 a kWh is peak season and peak hours.

Over four years you will stave 2-3K in maintenance but I'm thinking gas will go up again so... It wont be close long.

Even now you should be able to do off peak charging for less than .44

$0.07 per kWh 10/1 - 5/31 9p - 5p following day "off-peak"
$0.08 per kWh 6/1 - 9/30
Xcel Energy - covers high population areas in Colorado.

Of course, solar + Powerwall is the way to go for homeowners

Wow, at that rate, you may as well go to SC and save money. Discounted time of use rate for me in central IN is $0.0855/Kw 12AM-4AM. Do you have an option for off peak usage times at home in CT?

people who don't own Car don't think of Gas station;
People who drive/own EVs-don't look at the Gas stations;
EV is more than Gas Stations;

How dare you even look at the Gas Stations! :p :geek:

In my area gas would have to get down below $1 just to be equal to driving my cybertruck…
here is my comparison..
I charge once a week at about $9 each charge so about $36 a month. Plus 200 registrations fee equals about 16 extra a month so about 52 a month to drive my cybertruck…
My previous ICE truck was a tundra and I normally filled up twice a month, about 28 gallons.. so hypothetically $1 dollar a gallon would cost me $56 a month, no extra registration fee…
I highly doubt gas will ever go below $1 again…
