Would you have liked a spare tire as standard equipment or as a optional buy?

On the flat on my Model 3 a couple years back I was unable to plug the tire with the wheel still on the car... the puncture was towards the inside of the tire and there wasn't enough clearance. I had to remove the wheel before I could successfully plug the tire.
It would have been a bitch, but I likely would have got 'er done. It generally doesn't matter if you think you can, or if you think you can't, you are generally correct in both instances. When you have a seemingly unsurmountable obstacle, look for ways to change the odds in your favor. In the case of an inside puncture on a Model 3 I would look for undulations in the ground so I could move the vehicle to a more favorable position. Also, a flat rock could be used under the flat tire to provide more working room. Then picking the most advantageous position to lie down for the best leverage. It could help to inflate the tire first (assuming your inflator can pump faster than the leak). Solving a difficult challenge might take a lot out of you, you might get really dirty/wet, but I find it more rewarding to figure out how to make it happen than by giving up.

Of course the Cybertruck doesn't really have a clearance problem (with it's generous wheel wells and air suspension).

LOL. Sure, figuring out a non-obvious, MacGyver-kind of solution to a problem can be very satisfying. If that's the kind of situation you're in, if those are the only kind of options available to you, that's what you do. I agree with you that believing that you can or can't do something is very likely to be proven true.

In the case of my Model 3, it took all of five minutes to remove the wheel. Because, just like the Cybertruck, I also carry a spare in that vehicle, along with everything else needed. So, a 20-minute fix to plug the tire instead of 15.

I was good with that.

Bought a spare wheel/tire from ebay which i keep in my bed with a gate separator. I bought a jack from harbor freight, which i keep in my bucket. Also a tire sealant & compressor and a longer lug nut bar. I can change the tire myself and I use the gate as a ramp to roll the tire into my bed. For slow leaks, I can use the sealant.
I looked at the bottle jack at HF. I could be wrong but it seemed it didn't raise high enuf? What one did you get? Ended up getting one on AMZN that had three stages for a higher lift.

I bought this one from HF. I can easily lift the truck to remove my rear tires (to put on my lowering links). I bought the new Frunk L-track kit to keep the jack in place there, so I can use my truck storage for other misc. items, tool kit, hitch, sealant, straps, etc.

Also, My Model 3 has lowering springs on it, so it is loooow. I also bought a low-profile jack and keep it in it's trunk. Just in case I'm somewhere they cant lift my car or i need to remove the wheel to patch it.

I use this one and it’s definitely tall enough to remove a wheel or place the truck on jack stands. . I have not tried the 5 ton version but it looks like it might be enough.

Why do work in an electric truck that IS a giant battery?
Fairly compact too.

I thought the spare wheel/tire and kit was an optional buy? It certainly is offered in the tesla store. I did not want to give up the bed space, and mounting it on the gate exterior, I'd never get it in the garage, also maybe theft.

On my Infiniti, I've owned since Dec 2003, I've had a flat three times since 2004 - 2025.. Two discovered at home, one out in town at that time my spare had gone flat itself so I had to call a flat bed for it to get to a Discount Tire.

I'd get the spare and mount it or put it in bed if I was off-roading or something but I don't. I think definitely I'd mount it on the gate exterior. I've seen one do that at least once. There is also the consideration of a jack which is no small consideration considering the weight of the truck.

I've actually had one front tire punctured already, I realized after getting sliiiiightly low for a month I decided to look at the tread and there was a nail in it. The head was well worn and I'd apparently been driving on it for a month. I had it patched at the service center for free.

So the chance is there to get a flat or tire punctured, sure, but my not off-road standard use, it is a sort of inconvenience nothing dire.

My biggest concern with tire reliability is when towing - the only flats I have experienced are when towing, usually on the trailer due to stress of high weight and substandard OEM “Maypop” tires, but twice on the tow vehicle. My current solution is to carry the spare CT tire on the trailer. They are easy to ratchet-strap on the front vee, or on a cross bar on my boat and jet ski trailers. I might feel differently if doing more off-road driving, but I leave that to the motorcycles.

Yah, our trailer has undermounted spare and a 2" receiver just perfect for a truck spare and a couple bikes

hemiarch, I have a few questions on this electric jack you recommended: where are you getting 12v to operate this? I'm assuming the saddle is metal, so do you use a saddle adaptor on it? thanks!
I was looking at the BAOSHISHAN 4 Ton Bottle Jack 10-5/8" to 24", but I may not have 10.5" clearance to fit that jack under if the tire is flat.

12v comes from a power station which I keep charged up using my frunk feed. Believe it or not that is enough. It’s tripped once or twice but you just reset the power station and keep going. I wish there were a 120 or even 240 AC version that was as inexpensive but this actually works just fine.
no..I don’t use any plate. Directly to the jacking area marked under the car. Haven’t tried it since I installed terrestrial armor but I believe the spot remains the same. There is one for jacking and one for a jack stand near it.
Happy to send you a video if you want to DM me something that I can actually send a decent sized file to. Text/email etc

Thanks, but after reading some of the reviews think I'm just going back to get the BAOSHISHAN. Plus I didn't want to keep an additional 12V power source in the truck at all times.
I saw in the reviews that another cybertruck owner got the BAOSHISHAN. Think if needed, I'll put the truck in Extract mode and hopefully the 10.6" jack will fit under the truck.

Hey Lasttoy, can you tell me what is the overall height of the Tesla bottle jack? The lowest height that the Tesla jack will work. I know the highest lift can go up 20.5"
Thanks!
