Nice but you have to periodically remember to recharge the built-in battery. I would likely need it and find the battery dead due to forgetting to recharge. I decided to go with the expensive Tesla 120-V version given the CT has no 12-volt outlets.
I've been charging everything that needs charging my whole life (and so has everyone else). This isn't a real barrier. At most I charge the tire inflator once a quarter. Not a big. From dead, a 15 min charge into the inflator is more than enough to inflate a CT tire.

Of course we all charge as part of daily life. The difference with an inflator is that it sits under the rear seat or in the bed box and is out of sight and mind until needed. It is not like our cell phones or battery operated tools, vacuum cleaners, etc., where the batteries sit on a charging station until needed, or where we automatically plug in and charge every day. I have a couple of jump packs for the boats, jet skis, ATV’s other uses, and regularly find they’ve been depleted because we don’t use them regularly and only think about them in their “hidden” storage locations in an emergency use scenario - just when they are low on charge. A plug-in solution is a set-and-forget scenario that requires zero maintenance or diligence - it just works when needed. Remember the basic rules of life - #1, Incompetence reigns supreme, and #2, We cannot have nice things.

It isnt out of mind. Perhaps out of other peoples minds. I also carry a car battery jump box and use it for Ice cars. Perhaps I'm an anomaly but I'm able to make sure my tools work when I need them to. I suppose thats incompetence. Not going to keep responding on this. Use the tool best for you.

New Cybertruck owner of only a week. I hadn't really thought about this until I picked up the Cybertruck and noticed there is no spare.
It's not like you can carry a donut :). What does one do if you have a flat? Will AAA do anything? Would you have to get a tow?

I bought the spare wheel and tire and keep it in the bed. I also have an inflator and tire kit.
For the spare wheel and tire, you’ll need a new tire eventually, so you can just use the spare and replace that with the worn tire and wheel.

If you are running stock tires and wheels you can get a spare off ebay for a decent price. I use a plug kit and a C02 powertank. I had 2 spares in a baja truck and still ended up plugging tires road side because it was quicker and easier.

With the CT I'll probably have two spares before it's time to rotate. So Around town/local trips I'll probably have both spares at home in the garage. On pavement road trips one spare in the bed and if I go way, way off road like I did the raptor I'll have two spares.

For 99.99% of people a plug kit and a pump is all you will need.

I run the CO2 tank for off road because I can lower the tires to 15psi, allf four of them, drive on a beach, then air all 4 tires back up to highway pressure in less time than the electric pump takes to inflate one.

What the heck is a CO2 tank?

Sadly I only know this due my experience playing Paintball, but...

Carbon Dioxide is highly compressible, and will change phase to liquid at relatively low pressures (700 PSI-ish?). A small steel or aluminum tank can hold large volumes of CO2 gas in liquid form.

The problem for Paintball is that the liquid can slosh around and get sucked into the valve, freezing up the gun. The serious players use Nitrogen tanks, but that requires a 3000-5000 PSI tank, basically a mini scuba tank, that must be reinforced, certified, tested, and discarded after the expiration date. Because, you know, they can violently explode.

You don't want to use CO2 in your tires full-time, for much the same reasons: PSI in the tires will vary wildly with temperature. But it's fine for managing off-road pressures.

TL;DR: You can carry allot of CO2 in a small tank.

I look at the flat tire. Say I wish you were not flat. Head to the box of stuff called tools and preparedness. Get such items out. Look at them. Maybe crack a beer. Toast the heavens and then get to work.

Your S or Vette won’t be-off road in the middle of nowhere without cell service.

Same situation for me last month, but I blew both Right tires. I had just bought a patch kit 3 days before the flat in preparation for a road trip.

I pulled over and found it challenging to get my hand into the space where the hole was to be repaired, so I put the truck into Extract Mode, and BAM! There was more than enough room to patch the tire. Unfortunately, I hit something massive, and the patch didn't work. I called Tesla (free) Roadside assistance from the Truck's screen, and 30 minutes later, a Tow picked me up and took me to the nearest Service center.

The passenger with me is new to the EV game and was shocked by how seamless the patch attempt and the fact that the call to roadside assistance was all done through the touchscreen lol.

Lesson: Always keep a patch kit and compressor in the truck.

Odd timing of a post…this just happened 20 minutes ago:

Completely flat in about 20 seconds, just enough time to pull over. My solution is a patch kit and carry a compressor, back on the move 10 minutes later. I do carry a sidewall patch kit too, but have only ever had to repair punctures. I’ll carry a full size spare on off-roading trips, but often leave it behind if I’m sticking to populated areas.

So…do you patch it on the car or do you jack, remove wheel, patch and reinflate and replace the wheel?
