This is more of a city truck.

Which is what it should be. Until battery tech doubles in capacity an electric truck is pretty much not that great for off road / exploring, etc.

I am still waiting for the 39K original price for Cyber and Lightning. We would love to get rid of one of our Teslas for a city truck.

Actually low-speed off-road doesn't use much energy, it's highway wind drag that is the nemesis of EV's. Hence towing on the highway is EV's Achilles heel . And off-roading in the mountains I actually get some energy back going down slopes unlike ICE vehicles.

Aftermarket will be huge with this truck
Grow into and add upgrades over time
The poverty spec rear light assembly on this trim is fugly, somebody needs to come up with an aftermarket replacement, preferably one piece as opposed to split in three like the OEM.

rotflol. It's not exactly, slow.. its fast enough for most people, especially with FSD, who even drives any longer? I know I don't.
It’s just a personal choice. FSD is fascinating and I’m at 93% use but I still live to grab my beast my the collar and lean into that ballistic performance every so often.

fair enough, I had a 2013 Model S for a long time, when I was younger i enjoyed the speed rush, but it really doesn't do anything for me atm. The great thing about any Tesla is, if you catch a crazy person in your rearview, you can just "floor it" and be gone, unlike most vehicles where you can't get out of the way ;-)

If you got behind the wheel of a Lightning, your mind would be blown.

A M3P, you may cry.

A Beast or a Plaid, you may die.

P.S. - I helped teach my niece to drive in a Lightning, it wasn't too much speed and it has more zip than AWD CT.
I have a Model 3 Performance and a Model S Plaid. The AWD CT is plenty fast and faster than 95% of the cars on the road.

I am going to order. Stats being what they are I think it is worth it. A little big for my needs as a second CT. The battery share aspect for the size is very compelling. I will wait till the last day. As always an evolving Elon story.
Price goes down cancel your reservation
Price goes up you win
This is the lowest risk deal on the CT so far, and I have watched the entire time.

DIY on this would be moderate, probobly 2-300 for tesla to do it
Soooo $1k and you can sneak your cheap truck in as being a pricey one, quick "foundation" sticker and can still flex lol

The "ventilated seats" are nonexistent in the current CT, a few people have gotten lucky but mine and many others are basically zero. Don't think they are like a M3 or MY which are like lvl 9, CT on max is like a lvl 2 hard to tell it is on, especially in FL summers.
they work well enough for me. My ass is never hot lol

I think once CT sunsets, everyone will look back and agree it sold poorly because of the design. Not the price, not the range, not the CEO. The design. Everyone on this site loves it. Millions of people saw it at launch and loved it enough to put a deposit down. At the end of the day though, much of the decision when buying a vehicle comes down to design, and people tend to stick with what's familiar and safe. They might like the idea of a unique looking truck out there, but decide they don't want to be that type of truck guy or gal. Those of us here are a different breed, but maybe too small to keep the line afloat much longer.

Internal sales figures, as well as click through and other early signs they're surely tracking, will tell Tesla is there's any chance left or if it will go the way of S and X.

I hope I'm wrong but that's the way I'm reading it now.
then why don't the normal looking EV trucks sell then? The CT is beating most of them.

I placed my deposit, not sure what will happen in 7 days, but to me it is a Win-win. If the price goes up I am all set. If the price of the Premium comes down to $70K I will likely switch my order to a premium.

I love my Model S, but could use the room for family trips (We are a family of 5, 3 kids are 20/20/16) we currently use my wifes Model Y this will be much better. Also I miss my Ram, I sold it when gas was approaching $4 a gallon.

looking at the "rear wheel drive only" thread here, it sure looks like they had inventory of the seats, coil spring suspensions, and 18" tires/wheels, and since that model is cancelled, this looks like the way they plan to clear inventory.. If it's a sucess, they will keep it as an option going forward, if not, they cleared out the canceled rear wheel drive parts.
yeah that seems to be what pushed this. It's mostly the same as the RWD model. So they need to get rid of parts.
