Just to be clear, I love the high tech sounding gear wind. I think the annoying sound most are referring to is the high pitched chirping sound like in the video that was posted here.

I've never heard that high pitched, apparently oscillating noise in my AWD CT. I do hear the motor wind up whirrrrrr sound - which I enjoy.

Here's what mine sounds like if it turn the radio and AC off. I've been told by the service center twice this is normal. I've heard it in several other AWD models. If I hard accelerate, I don't hear it at all. If I hold speed or decelerate in the 25-40 range, I can hear it.

I just had my front drive unit replaced and now my truck is making this noise😩. Same circumstances as described in this post. Please tell me it eventually goes away??

Buy back was my only option. After 3 FDUs, I demand buy back. It’s a design flaw. Only awd models, beast uses different FDU.

How can I get bought back?
Start the process with the service manager. I would go to the center and asked to speak with him regarding a buy back. They’re doing a lot of them right now. They’ll minus the miles but will give back 100%. Even TTL.

This is still an issue?
My 2024 AWD front drive unit was replaced in late 2024 and had the same issue. After multiple service visits where they told me it was a characteristic of the truck. They ended up buying it back at 100% Was thankful for this. I have wanted to buy another CT but I’ve been leery of the problem happening again. Driving a R1T until Tesla gets it worked out.
For me it got louder with miles to the point it was constant.

So was it replaced and eventually bought back because you didn't like the noise or because you had a problem with the truck?
I had a quad motor R1T and you could hear similar noises with that one as well

the first drive until was replaced because it had a vibration. The replacement made a loud chirping noise the entire drive. Like you had a baby chicken in the car with you.
the CT was better in every way. The noise and service experience was a bad experience. I will get another. Waiting a few years until it gets worked out.
