I've been dealing with Frunk opening issues on my 2025 Cyberbeast for about year now. Multiple service center visits. Have another one scheduled (fourth visit) to address it again. The service center is about 2.5 hours away from us.

The Frunk intermittently gets stuck when going to open it (either button or app). It will "hang" for a few seconds and then finally open up. No issues closing. I can hear the latching mechanism trying to do something before it finally opens. Does not happen all the time, and ambient conditions (e.g., temperature, moisture, humidity) don't seem to impact it.

More of nuisance and if the SC was closer, I probably wouldn't care as much. But for a $100k truck, I would like it work as designed. What frustrates me a bit more are the responses I get from the SC.

The latch has been replaced three times.

Any suggestions/advice?

I have not yet unfortunately. Truck is custom wrapped, multiple light bars and other mods. Again, all first world problems.

Happy with it otherwise and we purchased it knowing the SC would probably be an all day thing (round trip, etc).

Was hoping to see if there might be a more permanent fix for it. But maybe I will research a buy back.

My frunk did exactly the same things you mentioned. At first I thought it was related to cold/freezing weather, but no it ended up just operating like that all the time. It was very annoying to use. It would often actually get stuck and not finish "forcing" its way open.

Same problem here. Very annoying when trying to show someone the truck or doing a light show and it does it. Push the button either on the app, screen or at the Frunk and all I hear is a “clunk” and the motor cycle and finally open.

Mine does it too. Its like the latch doesnt fully disengage the first time. Its only ever gotten stuck and not opened on the second auto unlatch once. I thought it was the cold too but it happened the other day when it was warm out. The mechanism must not be pulling the latch out fully. Not sure why the variation. Maybe theres slack in the actuator?

Mine was getting stuck sometimes, probably because I don’t use it very often, so I put some lithium grease down in the latch. It definitely made a difference and now it doesn’t get stuck anymore. I ran it open and closed several times to work the grease in and also kept cleaning off the excess as needed.

I like the lithium grease idea. Any specific brand recommendation?

As far as the weather, I live in the south. It does get cold on occasion but I’ve also had it happen on 90+ degree days.

I do “timestamp” every time it happens and send it to my service advisor.

You should consider adjusting the frunk bump-stops:

In my frunk, they were bottomed-out, and clearly were not making contact. I adjusted them outward, and now I can see and hear the frunk latch pulling tightly against them when closing. I imagine this provides tension to help release the latch when opening.

The hexagonal outer of the bump-stops rotates the whole assembly, and a CCW twist (90Âş I think) frees it for removal.

The round inner also rotates CCW to loosen, CW to tighten. Loosen the inner and then push/pull to adjust before re-tightening. I couldn't find any specific guidance for adjusting these in the Manual nor Service Guide, so feel free to experiment.

These are in the Smuggler's Bay, too.

Do you have anything mounted to the top of the frunk on the inside, molle panels etc?

Same issue here! I actually took a picture and a video the other day and have been meaning to post it. I was thinking that it was because the driver side arm was in a little closer. As you can see, it touches the rubber at the bottom of the windshield. Is this normal, are other trucks the same? The arm on the passenger side doesn't touch the rubber so I thought this might be it.

I just used some stuff I had around.. I just put a blob on a flat head and put it in the latch the best I could, it’s kinda blocked by the frunk tub. I guess you could remove the tub to get better access if you wanted. I’m in Texas so it gets hot here and so far it’s holding up fine. If I need to I’ll re apply it, the tube of grease I have has been in my garage for years so there is plenty of it. I also used it occasionally to lube the door catches, have not had to lube the doors on my CT yet.

nothing mounted and I actually removed anything from the frunk space to make sure it wasn’t catching inadvertently
