Where is your charger installed?

Called SC and they told me likely I will get my beast next month!

Now I am thinking a practical question, where should I install the wall charger? This is my first EV so I don’t have any charger yet. I can install it in my garage but I will likely not park my CT into the garage. I can also installed it outdoor so easy to use when I park on the drive way, but any concern about security or safety?

I am wondering where most people install their charger? I can’t find much discussion here.

My garage has ample room for my truck, so I installed at the front of the garage nearest to the garage door. I have seen people install exterior chargers, it is doable. But if you are concerned about security you can have the charger installed near the garage door and have the truck backed up near it, to route the charge cable so that the garage door can close while the truck is plugged in. Not sure how much copper is in the cable, but a vandal will vandalize....

Parking in the garage is a pipe dream for me.

Have Y now with WC installed in front of garage.

Don't really need second charger, but mostly free. Will install outside on other side of garage door.

Mine is currently loose from the wall because we're rebuilding the carport, so it's sitting on top of a tub.

We don't really worry about copper thieves out here, though.

Just curious what your RN number is and when did you get your VIN

This the setup I have. It works great.

To the OP, also consider where your electrical panel is as the distance from that to the charger install location is more costly the longer the distance.

This is my first EV too, and I just had a guy pull power off an RV receptacle I had on the exterior and bring it in garage for my truck. It’s 240v 30amp, and I just use the mobile charger that came with the truck. Charges plenty fast for me.

Tesla Energy quoted me $3500 for the entire install. I asked them if it would be less if the charger was placed closer to the panel but they said $3500 is the minimum amount regardless.

Thats about where i want my charger but like you, my panel is on the opposite wall. How much more expensive is it to run wire like that to opposite side?

Well, you can get it for down to $4 a foot plus time to run the wire...?

I run my own wire. Won't help you with Powershare install cost much, but... Electricians usually like it when you do the part where you're contorting into small spaces for them ^-^

Thanks, it is a good idea to rout the cable out.

Just curious what your RN number is and when did you get your VIN

my RN is 11279x and I ordered on 12/30/2023. I haven't got my VIN yet, but the service center gave me a rough estimate which likely to be next Month.
