Alright, someone who actually knows about 3D printing correct me if I’m wrong, but I found this on Xometry’s website and my understanding is that Heat Deflection Temperature is the temperature at which it would deform. At 154C (309F), we’re good with Xometry’s SLS Nylon 12.

Well, OP, I’ll take you up on your offer and PM you.

I had my windows (20% to match factory rear) and windshield (50%) tinted today and the detector came back sagging.

They either ruined it when removing/reinstalling it, or, the temp got it. I think it’s the former and they jacked it up because I had cabin overheat set at 90F.

I know they messed with it because they called and asked how to remove it. That tells me they probably jacked it up, went “oh crap,” then called. ?

I didn’t know they would need it removed. I obviously would have removed it myself.

Wanted to check with this group for anyone who has installed the mount with Uniden R8: I installed last night and Uniden R8 stayed on for a bit after I walked away from my truck. I went to my car this morning and it was off (as I had expected/hoped) however when I went into my car this morning and drove to work, it did not turn on with the car at all. I unplugged it and plugged it in and it worked just fine again, but shouldn't it turn on with the car? Wondering if me having Sentry mode enabled at all times has something to do with it, but I do want that enabled at all times. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I noticed it didn’t seem to turn off when I’d walk away, but then I’d just make sure my phone was far from the car, then go out and check it and it was off.

I haven’t played with sentry on and off though, and then checking. I can test that and see if it matters.

I’ve never had an issue where it doesn’t turn on when I get in.

The wire that power R8 will have power when sentry mode on. Your Uniden R8 may have battery saving feature turn on which will power off R8 when no movement after 2 hours. To turn it on, you need to manual push power button. To fix this, just turn off battery saving feature on R8.

I don't have this issue on my MXP as the power doesn't turn on with Sentry mode.

Great point. I have mine off as I kind of blindly followed all of Vortex’s recommended settings. Here’s their comment on the battery saver.

I played around with this a bit. I think I haven’t noticed it because I have Sentry mode on, but with the “expect at home” selected.

So, when I walked up to the car the R8 was off, but so was sentry mode. Via the app and away from the car, I turned on sentry mode and, the detector turned on.

Sentry Mode On, Except Home: I reverted the setting back to sentry mode on, except at home and even though the car locked when I walked away, it took about 10 min for the R8 to actually turn off.

Sentry Mode On, No Exceptions: Checked it after about 45 min and R8 still on.

Well that’s a bummer. I hope it wasn’t heat as I get mine this week. I’m hoping it works without bending.

Ok I got the N12 from Xometry. It looks pretty nice. But the part that the detector will hang off of is fairly flimsy. It will be interesting to see how this does in the heat. If it all looks great, I may just jump on the aluminum one.

Hope it holds up!

I looked into the aluminum at Xometry and the quote was like $500 or so. Did you see less?

OP’s is holding up great.

Yeah I got it quoted for like $169. I will have to look. The OP offered to do one for me, so I will try this out and may reach out to him to send me one. Im glad his works well... that may be the one to do.
