Cybertruck range while towing is HORRIBLE!

So I towed a 20 foot trailer to pick up some roll up doors for a project I’m building. The entire trip including pickup and drop off at final destination is about 80 miles each way.

let me put this way. I am never going to do this again in the cybertruck. The range is literally half!

Averaging 856 WH/Mi!

I arrived at the supercharger station (my 3rd stop during that trip) with 0%.

Still love the truck though! ?

I wish Tesla would come out with a 200kWh pack option (plus the range extender....maybe 50kwh extra) for those who either want to tow or have real world >500miles without towing.

if you can post your energy usage from the previous drive cycle under the energy app


Sounds like you need the non-existent range extender.

Mostly freeway driving. I’m towing a 20 foot trailer with about 1500lbs of load on it. I’m in Texas so it’s as flat as you can get over here..

Seems about expected for 123kW/h… 160 miles is half. Towing more than 180-200 miles round trip is probably better to stay with ICE. Or go Silverado EV when they make em for the public ??

Yes exactly! You get about half the range with a relatively light towing in a very flat city.

I also charged it to 90%. Guess should have charged it to 100%

Luckily I am not a towing guy, so the CT will work amazing for me. I have a lot of buddies that have toy haulers, horse haulers, etc. this truck isn’t for them in those use cases unless they stay local. Just the reality that many can’t come to grips with .

Silverado EV on paper looks like it checks all the boxes. However, the tech is questionable.

The great thing about Tesla is the continuous updates. I cannot say that with any other manufacturer other than Rivian.

Also purchasing anything other than a Tesla is horrible under the dealership model. Just give me the price and be done with it. Sure people are going to say it will be the same or cheaper than the cybertruck, but once you get to the dealer you get hit with a “market adjustment”.

Totally agree! I was trying to be sarcastic with my Silverado comment. But I agree with everything you said. Here is my decision making tree

I need a truck -> needs to be an EV -> who makes the best EVs? -> Tesla -> Cybertruck it is!!

I just towed my boat (2500lbs) into the mountains and back. The truck did fantastic!!!! Started at 100%, got up to the reservoir with 70%, and back to the house with 53%. Am very pleased.

This is why I pre-ordered the range extender. Haven't heard any updates on it though
