Throwing in the Powershare equipment on the FS was what did it for me. Mentally it would be harder for me to justify spending over $6,000 to get home battery backup with a Non-FS truck.

When the power goes out, it would drive me nuts knowing that I have 3 days of battery power sitting in the garage and no way to harness it. I know in reality I'm still paying full price, but it won't feel quite as substantial when I cut that check for $3,400 to the electrical installer.
I did luck out here - I did have the foresight to have a manual transfer switch included on my house when the electrical service was installed. So while it won't just take over automagically I can manually plug my CT in to power my house for an extended outage. Come to think of it I do have put a new plug on my generator cable though (my last one used a twist lock connector instead of NEMA 14-50) ...

My thoughts exactly. If you cant afford 100k (theres no shame in that) then you also cant afford 80k. Simply look for a good used truck for 35k and wait a few years.
First, that's simply not true for many people. Second, can't afford is not the same as what else I would like to spend $20K on. I bought a pre-owned Model S, sacrificing 2 years of ownership time to spend the difference on solar panels to power it for its entire lifetime and beyond, now my Cybertruck. Certainly no regrets on that, but turning 75 this month, postponing my Cybertruck for 2 years would have been a far more precious sacrifice.

Don't want FSD, white interior, Powershare, and some of the other minor things like L hooks and d rings.

I do qualify for tax incentive and will pay less state tax for every dollar knocked off the price. Im looking at savings of $29.2k for non fs

Those that bought FS keep posting threads like this to justify their purchase. Probably a good amount of FS buyers can't really afford it comfortably either as evidenced by the amount who finance in this sky high interest environment.

Its too funny for the gotta have it crowd to be lecturing others when any sane person can see the bottom is about to fall out
If you think these interest rates are sky high you weren't around for the 70's. ?

Plot twist - I contacted Tesla today to ask whether non-FS models will have ventilated seats and premium audio. They said it has not been announced yet! Now I'm having second thoughts on not waiting for non-FS models. What if we end up saving only $5K for regular models or compromise on the feature set? This is getting even more frustrating!

Elon wants to sell millions of these to "average Joes". I am Average Joe and can't afford it without going into great debt. The price will come down...
He's not targeting FS to average Joes. There are a wide variety of circumstances for those of us ready, willing and able to plunk down $100k+ for it. I doubt that average Joes are really the target market for new non-FS AWD or Beasts either, but it is a broader market segment. RWD and used Cybertrucks will be aimed at average Joes as production volume, recognition of their utility and size of the fleet grow.

True, the AWD/CB FS customer base is basically a subset of the MX/MX Plaid customer base.

Premium audio could potentially be an option for RWD but definitely standard for the main AWD model.
ATM yes, but they have made premium audio a paid option before on models that previously had it included (to outraged screams.) The subwoofers would probably be the most likely downgrade. As Elon said at the shareholders meeting, getting costs down to make selling prices affordable is one of their highest priority pursuits, as most people want a Tesla but most people still can't afford one.

One difference is that previously, the audio upgrade included a separate amplifier module. With the Cybertruckxs 48V architecture, the audio functions are dispersed across the body modules. So it's a lots of different modules to inventory versus one extra box and a different wire harness.

They could depopulate the speaker drivers though, if there is a subset that still sounds good. Subs are a definite possibility.

I would agree that high number of people will ultimately pass. In my situation it is wants versus needs. I want the Cybertruck, but I don’t need a vehicle. I have five. So for me, it is not a “Goldilocks” or “fence sitter” situation. It is Tesla finally agreeing to offer the Cybertruck as promised, ($79,900 for AWD). I got over the fact that it is 60% higher than the originally revealed in 2019. The question is how many people will /can get over that fact.
Tesla never promised anything. Stop it. Kind of not real in life or sales. Sorry you feel that way.

Funny someone who has 5 vehicles. Amazing you must spend so much on insurance and everything that really the difference is trivial right???

Maybe a viewing of this will help with reality.

Prices were estimates. Go find some other hill to sacrifice your intelligence on.

Yes, they did. It’s on their website:

Whether they caveat it with “estimate” or not, that is what was and is still communicated as the price point.

Dial it down dude. I’m not here to argue with you.

You must have missed the letters at the top EST. $79,990.
I don't argue. Just state facts. Some which you can't handle.

When did you reserve? Like me 4 years ago. Est. are that Est.

When you peer more closely at all those "minor" things included with the FS, it starts to become clear that that non-FS-truck-that-qualifies-for-the-$7.5K-Federal-Incentive is going to be quite a bit different from the FS trucks. And not having FSD is the least of it, since FSD can always be purchased after-the-fact, or by subscription.
For the benefit of others who may also be confused about how the tax credit price limit applies to the Cybertruck:

Software add-on options (like FSD) do not count towards the purchase price with regards to the $80K price cap on the tax credit. Neither does tax, license and registration.

Yep, same boat. Most of these additional “features” are valueless to some.
