Totally agree this is needed. I have a model S and X and one additional thing I noticed is the front and rear view camera feeds depth perception is not as good. I still don’t truck the rear camera view in the Cybertruck when backing up.
Yep, after 8 yrs of zero issues with my MS and MX, I’ve now done similar with my CT twice: once parallel parking adjacent to a concrete wall (scuffed bumper corner), and backing into narrowly-placed Supercharger (scuffed the black bumper piece near the wheel arches. Really missing the ultrasonics…those were super-accurate and helpful, this truck has disappearing sight-lines in back and the cameras don’t adequately show (front/rear) the full breadth of the bumpers.

I expect all the proximity warnings and situational awareness displays will come with the FSD (even to non-FSD versions of the CT). They are finally getting there with the refreshed vision-only MX but it’s been over a year without.

Machinists don't usually work on sheet metal.

Some do.

That being said, I should have said a metal works shops. I apologise. I was born in 1941. Things change. Now, apparntly most that call themselves machine shops restrict their operations to CNC milling and turning. I'm just behind the times, though I do own a small CNC mill and a small CNC lathe. But I also weld and do a little metal bending...not stainless steel though.

So far, today, no one has seen the bent panel. I park in front of a body shop and the guys came out to look at the truck, I honestly thought their expressions were due to the bent panel. I was telling them how shitty I feel and they are like, what do you mean, this is a beautiful truck!

So I pointed out that I need to figure out how to fix my panel, and I had to literally touch the bent part to get them to see it, like even after standing in front of it, people were not seeing it.

Earlier in the day, I confessed to my 5 year old that I broke trucky and she was like OH MY GOSH DADDY WHAT DID YOU DO and so I told her to go and take a look and she walked around and was like, it's not a big deal, and she pointed to a piece of wood on the bumper. She didn't see the bent panel until I touched it and pointed it out to her, after which she was OH MY GOSH DAD YOU BROKE TRUCKY!

THB I thought the CT was going to have some sort of proximity markers for the backup camera.

My friend has a Tacoma and her backup camera looks like this:
Tesla Cybertruck So I broke my trucky -- bent rear quarter body panel IMG_2761

In the long run I think Tesla’s vision based proximity warning will be great!

It has very good markings but they don't indicate the edges of the vehicle. Anyway in my accident, they wouldn't have helped since the fence is dark and it was dusk. What would've helped would have been a visual or aural warning.

Oh well it was meant to be. I'm gonna live with it for now like I have a choice lol and get a new panel installed.

I’m just glad nobody was hurt, no big deal in the long run!

My sentiments exactly. I have told my kids that trucky is a beast and not a toy, and I have reprimanded them when they have tried to play around it. Kids are so excited about it but honestly it is dangerous. I am careful around it, especially when entering and exiting the bed, since the edges of the gate are so sharp. I tried to put some baby edge protectors but it doesn't look good on trucky. So it's just about being careful.

Maybe a big tub of Bar Keeper's Friend might buff out the bent steel?

Cameras not working? ?
With the cameras, what I have found is that the truck is so long, you have to really scrutinize the farthest ends of the truck in the feed to determine if you're going to hit something or not. It's like, if you wing it, you'll probably strike something.

In my garage, I have two motorcycles on racks that are flush against the wall and I park the truck as close to them as possible, and I'm damn good at it, with runway strips on the floor to guide me, etc. Even then, the cameras are not very good - they need a second set of repeater cameras further back in order to be useful.

I have to squint and look closely as the lights in the garage aren't super bright, and with the reflection from the steel, it's difficult to determine if you're seeing a dark object or a dark refelction.

When I park in my driveway, I tried to park as close to the fence as possible so that my wife can get her car in and not give me shit about it.

The model s, it's always been pretty easy and I guess I'm not yet used to the truck even though I've had it for a month.

So today, I got a little too close to the fence and boy did it mess up the truck. We're not talking about running into the fence directly but trying to back up and then I got a little too close and then one of the panels got caught in the post and it really messed up the post but it bent as well. Check out the pictures.

Bear in mind that this is parking speeds, very low speed. Judging from the post, that's some serious damage so if this were a person, they'd be pretty messed up.

I tried to bend that panel back with my hands and it's impossible. I tried to pliers and it's impossible.

There's this dude that happens to have a body shop across the street from the co-working space where I go to and I'm going to go and see if he can bend it back in place enough to make it look normal again.

Sorry for your loss...

A good fabrication shop that works with stainless could probably bend that back straight 99.99% good as new....

Here in SoFL, yacht fab shop could fix that easy peasy.

Might be worth a visit.
