I scheduled an appointment for the soonest I could, which is one month out, for the recall fix. My question is how to avoid having wiper issues in the meantime? Is there any setting that is safer than another or just total luck of the draw?

I would not worry about it, either. RainX is a good idea. You almost don’t need wipers as the rain rolls right off. Needs to be reapplied consistently though per directions or whatever you find to be effective given your location, weather, and use case. I’ve used my wiper about 3-4 times now, no issues. That being said, I did go ahead and book a service for the wiper, sail, and accelerator pedal - about a month out - I guess they need to get the parts. Don’t worry, be happy. You own a Cybertruck!

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to schedule an appointment for this, same as you. I decided to just get it scheduled for a time when we didn’t have any travel planned. Get it hammered out before it is an issue on a road trip. RainX may work well at high speeds but if you are in some stop and go traffic it may just not be good enough. I’d rather have the wiper working whenever I need it.
I did check the NTSB recall site and my VIN is part of the recall.

Only about 250 something motors were impacted. But they don't know which 250 so they have to recall all. Your chance of a bad motor is about 2%, so worrying or not is your own choice.

Ahh interesting! I didn’t know it was that low of a number. Do you have a source for that info? I may just not worry about it for that low of a chance.

Found this on notateslaapp site. Wonder if they know the VINs and if it shows as “Recall Incomplete” on the NTSB site that they know for sure that VIN has a “bad” motor.

Wiper Motor Recall
The first recall is concerning the wiper motor, which has a build defect. Approximately 2% of delivered trucks (11,688 vehicles) have a malfunctioning gate driver component and will require a replacement. The full assembly will be replaced.

I’m in Seattle. Rainy (drizzly, anymore) for 6-7 months a year. May 31 delivery, used the wiper 5-7 times since pickup. Not one issue, but will say RainX works wonders on that low slope front glass, as well as the roof glass.
I keep the wiper on off (lolol) 100% of the time.

New shruggy(?):

The recall notice doesn't even go out for another month.

Tesla will get it fixed, Tesla will have to figure it out soon after all it does rain sometimes?!

If not, please help them, wiper motors have been around for over 100 years.

I figure I'll get it fixed in the future when they are caught up on others perhaps and if it goes out. Seems like 98% of wipers in trucks work just fine so odds are pretty good it'll work just fine. Haven't had to use in the rain yet, kinda looking forward to that. Just had the odd wipe here and there by itself on the freeway so far. Makes that horrible squeak sound on dry glass ;-)

I keep a spare bungy cord, racoon, and bunny rabbit in the vault. Should wiper and motor fail, I plan on using them them as backups.

Problemo solved until motor issue gets resolved.

No biggie.

I've had plenty of recalls on Hondas, BMWs, Porches, etc. I typically wait until the annual service to get caught up on them. Worry about them? No. Well, except the Takata airbags of death - but then it seems the replacement airbags also had issues and just about every car manufacturer was impacted.

If you're going to worry about minor issues on the first model year of a brand new vehicle on a brand new manufacturing line -- you should be driving a Camry or CR-V. But then again, even Toyotas can have their wheels fall off!
