Just hooked up my truck for the first time and getting 16amps / 4kw...it does 48amps on my M3P.

Error. Charge port latch not engaged - Fully insert charge cable or check for obstruction...

First charge last night at a supercharger worked just fine.

Any known issues with the CT / Gen 2 compatibility?

Will open a ticket to see what Tesla says but figured someone on here might have seen this issue before.

Thx

Yes, I had the same issue. I asked Tesla charging about this, but I had the new charger installed before they figured it out. I think there is a compatibility issue.

The good news is that nothing bad seemed to happen even after getting the errors like 50 times. It did happen less over time, but still occasionally.

Sorry, I can’t help more, but there IS an issue, so I would push it up the chain and maybe you get a new charger out of it. I am selling my old charger with my model X since it can charge it at 72 amps. New chargers and new vehicles are all capped at 48 amps.

I have the series 2 charger that I picked up back in 2017 to charge my then Model S P85+ that had dual charging units and would charge at 80amps. After I sold that and got my model 3 I reconfigured the dip switches inside the charger for a max of 48amps since that's all the 3 could do. It works like a champ with my Beast. I would suggest giving that a try and see if it works for you as I've never had a single problem charging with mine.

S,3,Y,CT,CT(holding pattern) Slate is back on
3 gen 2 chargers.

No issues. Have charged 2 Cybertrucks at same time as well. I do use the 72 amp on the S from time to time because of number of vehicles.

The truck killed my 9 year old Gen 1 charger. It actually worked the first few times, but then started getting the charge port error. Flipping the breaker fixed it for a while, but as of a few weeks ago, the charger throws errors on both my truck or M3 now. I have a Universal charger coming as part of the Powershare install, so I have not pursued a resolution with Tesla.

Appreciate the feedback from everyone. I am going to replace the charger anyhow eg with PowerShare/universal charger but was waiting for the voucher to buy the bundle + install lead time....dont really want to supercharge for a few months so opened service request, we'll see.

It may be worth trying to adjust the dip switches like an earlier post mentioned in the mean time. I was suspecting that the higher amperage of these chargers somehow caused an issue as newer chargers that only support 48v never seem to have an issue.

Changed dip switch to 9, aka 48amp max....do change, same error. Appreciate the recommendation.

There's no magic communications here for the latch. It would be a physical problem.

Just to be sure, it's still working with the Model 3, right? And you've made sure the port or plug on the doesn't have debris in it?

I've only charged my CT once using our Gen 2 wall charger. It was set for 48 Amps and charged at a rate of 27 MPH. Everything worked as expected. It has worked flawlessly for our Model 3. The Model 3 gets 45 MPH at 48 Amps. The difference in MPH charge rate is expected since the vehicles are different. MPH is not the best way to measure charge rate.

Still works with Model 3 and inspected both the wall charger and truck connections - nothing loose / damaged/debris - all looks normal. Also supercharging every night and at different stalls no issue with any of those connections, works with moms newer wall charger, etc...so gotta be on the end of my charger.

Have an apt on the 12th with Service....not sure what that will do as they only have the truck side....

If they hurry up with my PowerShare gateway / charger / install all will be well but guessing that'll take a minute.

Thinking if they make charger extensions I could try one of those and that would work interim as I dont like supercharging for 35-40 min a night vs. at home.
