Nothing being mass produced at up to 1,300 per week and at over 20K produced should be labeled limited.

Tesla is within its right to continue selling the foundation series at the 20K upcharge, but they cannot claim that the foundation series will hold any value due to its limited run or badging.

Its clear tesla has no cap on production numbers as we are over 20K

The only thing that will get them to stop is a lack of demand.

Personally i believe being one of the first few thousand CT's delivered would have justified the 100K price. But not anymore.

I am ready and willing to give tesla 80K for a regular Cybertruck.

I read that the VIN does not correspond to the number of CT’s actually manufactured.

I guess “ limited edition “ is a relative term if you consider they will only be producing it for this year so when they make CTs for the next 10-20 years of a much higher rate of production then yes the FS will in fact be a limited edition.

They were only going to make 1,000 in total and you would have had your $80k truck by now.

“ they cannot claim that the foundation series will hold any value due to its limited run or badging” … when and where is Tesla claiming the value.

It is limited. The fact that it's dragging on longer than expected doesn't change that.

My personal observation is that the Foundation Series just means the vehicles produced before prime time mass production. Autopilot/FSD hasn't been released and the multiple recalls show production is still being tweaked.

Note: I'm not a FS advocate by any means. I was in the first batch of FS invites but am anxiously waiting for standard orders to open up. FS benefits the late reservers and standard orders will benefit those that want a more mature product.

It's all marketing. And pretty smart marketing. Why would they stop selling FS at higher cost and better margin if there is still significant demand that exceedes current production capabilities? Given how Tesla does new product launches and their ongoing itterative update methodology there was never going to be much, or any, additional value associated just with "Foundation Series" as a limited run, regardless of how few they made. Factoring in package grades, we who have pulled the trigger knew, or should have known, we were basically paying a 5-10k premium just to jump the line and be early adopters. Which we accepted and paid willingly. Same goes for anyone who still decides to buy a FS now. I get that people are anxious for an 80k option but you're not going to see that until production exceedes FS demand / orders. And why would Tesla from a business standpoint do anything different? People are going to complain and even cry foul, but at the end of the day the vast majority will still buy one whenever they do offer non FS, and those who get overly upset and say fu will be more than offset by new interest. Especially if they keep improving overall quality, fixing all the edge case issues a few are having, and address any bigger recalls. Upside is the longer you wait the more solid, and potentially feature rich, truck you'll get. Potentially cheaper, but also maybe not that.
Rather or not they keep calling FS "limited edition" or not is pretty irrelevant to anything that matters.

That’s why they named at the foundation series. It’s meant to be like the foundation of a pyramid. It comes first it is the largest slab and everything else builds on top of it.?

no one knows tomorrow. If you can enjoy a little, while time is on your side, by all means go for it. There will always be better, of course, the longer you wait. But those waiting for that perfect truck on that perfect day, I am sure it will all eventually come one day. -Cheers ?

The Foundation Series Model S are not worth much, if anything, above a standard used Model S. The same should be true for the CT. Tesla never officially said they would only make 1000, that was a rumor.

Its been debated to death, but the 20k markup was to get the truck early, a few cheap accessories, and for the Beast a 4k credit. If that is worth it is up to each person. Regardless, it beats most of the markups on vehicles during COVID, that gave you nothing in return for a higher price.

I dont think anyone is really thinking the foundation series will "hold value". If anything some iwll avoid them given all the recall stuff. Once addressed, sure it is fine. Look, I like mine, but if I were to get another one in the future, I would want one with all the kinks ironed out.

I guess I never saw the words limited. I just saw Foundation Series. Foundation in my small mind meant. These are the trucks we are working on to get it right. Series meant they would come out one after another.

Limited even if ever mentioned. Limited till they have the foundation to not be foundational any longer.
