Has anyone identified a decent mattress that can fit in the bed? I'm thinking that with the heated blanket and an inflatable mattress, all you need is a canopy over the bed and you can make a very nice outdoor tent.

I'm looking at solutions too. Bring a 120v freezer/fridge and an Instapot with a solo stove, firewood, and some camping chairs and you have a weekend.

I found an Intex twin mattress which is the 10-in variant with the blue top, you have to buy a pump additionally. Once inflated, you can shut the tailgate without a problem and it doesn't fill up the entire bed but that's okay, it gives enough room for you to sit with your feet touching the bed like as if it's a stool. I also got a heated blanket and it works great. I just have to figure out how to convince my daughters to get out of the truck.

Having gone to camping quite extensively and now that I have the Cybertruck, I've got to say that the base camp is not a very good option given the factors involved.

First of all, it's only good for two people and so the price point is way too high and so the main advantage that they're touting is that you can mount it on your flatbed, but that results in the flatbed being consumed by a permanently attached tent. So far, sounds like a bad deal.

I went on the website of the company that makes it.

They make identical tents for regular ground tent camping and it's at a significantly cheaper price point for much more volume and so it would make more sense to get one of those things and carry it rather than have it attached to the flat bit.

The way I see it, you're better off packing up the flatbed and finding a decent camping site and setting up tent using the identical tent or a version of it that's made by heimplanet.

For temperature control, you can go to home Depot and get a miniature USB powered evaporative cooler and you'll be surprised at how much of a benefit that can be in a tent during the summer time.

Is that the Tesla ramp?
No, it's an old dog ramp. Sorry , don't remember the brand. It holds my 150 lbs Cane Corso, and used to hold a 165 lbs Bull mastiff (and me, slightly heavier.)

Ps that's a cheap truck tent from Amazon. Less than $70.

This ventilation system is under development for the CT. To me, it seems like a necessary addition to camping. https://www.campstreamgear.com/product/campstream-one
Okay everybody, let's just get real. You're not going to camp in your cybertruck.

I like camping and I've explored this for the past month and a half. It's a nice idea but it makes no sense. I'll tell you why.

First of all, the back seat is excellent for transportation and for children but you really can't expect a reasonably sized adult to sleep on the floor in the back, you have to keep the doors open and that wouldn't make sense.

The truck bed makes more sense but unfortunately, it's open because if you try to close it, it'll become like an oven. So if you're going to keep it open and you're cool with that then you can put an inflatable mattress in there which I have done, and it's quite comfortable and you can lie in there and sleep. You can get and awning or a canopy that is designed for trucks and that'll give you shade until this is very workable but once again, keeping the truck bed open, that's a personal size. So I'm going to say forget about it.

Base camp, showstopper. It's only good for two people and it takes up a quarter or more of your truck bed so you're really giving up a lot, not worth it. I bought it and returned it.

However, what I have found is that the same company that makes base camp actually makes some really nice inflatable tents. They're a little expensive but they're really nice so once you get it set up because there's a first time set up involved, then subsequently all you have to do is stretch it out on the ground and then pump it up. And it's take it in the ground. It really does take only about 5 minutes but it packs away a lot easier.

In conclusion, here's how I have come down to camping with a cybertruck.
  • Get the inflatable tent, it'll save you a lot of headache
  • Get a portable fridge, I like the eco-flow glacier, you won't regret that one
  • Get a twin mattress from Target and make sure that you get the pump that they sell separately
  • Get a truck canopy from amazon, essentially suction cups to your windows and then the guy wires that you can save to the wheels of your truck or stake them into the ground
  • Get a Sunbeam warming blanket
This setup stows away really well and is fairly easy to deploy when needed. It's a better deal all together than all the other stuff you guys have been referring to.
