I was driving through northern PA on a lake trip with friends when a deer suddenly jumped out in front of the truck. Bam! I didn’t even stop; the deer was instantly killed as I was going 40-50 mph. I was shocked at the minimal damage. In fact, from a distance, you can barely tell anything happened!

Pro tip: get some heavy-duty gaffer's tape to cover up dings until you can get them fixed. I’m currently awaiting Tesla service. My insurance estimates the repair cost at around $3,000, but I think the Tesla body shop will charge much more, as they will likely replace the frunk rather than unbend it. Despite the impact, everything still works fine, even the camera that hit the deer.

I love this truck; I think any other car would have been totaled, or we could have sustained major injuries. Now, I want to install fender bars since I live in deer country. I thought there was a company that made them.

Waiting on an estimate for my deer hit… my damage was worse..

Damn… I’m hoping they let me keep what ever they replace I might want it later! I still wonder if they can rebend the frunks or body if it gets dented.

I see unusual high number of deer/bear being hit by CT for only 20k in the nation. Or it is normal?

Deer of several species tend to 'freeze' (i.e. stand very still without apparent reaction) to a stimuli when they cannot readily ascertain what they are seeing or hearing,
This wasn't a frozen deer though...

I've been in two 55 MPH car vs deer accidents and one ICE truck vs deer. No injuries to passengers. One car lost its radiator, one had bent grill/hood but was drivable, truck had broken grill/headlight and bent bumper.
However, in all cases the deer was in motion and trajectory continued sideways. If you manage to put one through the windshield, that would be worse.
On the high end a deer can weigh 200 pounds.

Lack of noise may be a contributing factor (we see lots more wildlife driving CT). Also, people are probably more prone to report crashes with Cybertruck vs typical vehicle.

Michigan in 2020: 51,103 vehicle-deer crashes, 1,400 injuries, 5 deaths (two motorcycles).

Anti Deer Head lights

and
Neither deer, nor our canine friends live in a black-and-white world, but instead have dichromatic vision- that is, they can see all hues of blues and yellows, but they are red-green color blind. This dichromatic vision makes deer unable to see most shades of color, but it heightens visual sensitivity to movement
Fix
is not a $$$ deer bumper fix is add a switch changing the CT LED head lights from bright white to Red-Green or even pulsed Red-Green.

You might also consider a pulsed light (IPL) Red & Green head light LED
Also
With that Head light switch wire in (software code in) a CT horn mountain lion sound track.

Had mine for about one month and hit a deer in NYS thruway at 75 mph damage is about $5k I did not damage frunk you will be higher due to frunk damage and if bumper is also damaged your are probably looking at $7k or more …agree any other car would have been totaled …barely noticed the impact

What’s your repair timeline? Got everything together the 7/15 and talked to Tesla collision service, they scheduled me for Aug 5th. But that depends on parts… I think they are more concerned with building full trucks over supplying parts currently…

Depending on where you're at, it might be advisable to install deer whistlers on your bumper since our CT's are quiet beasts. ?

Finally, a practical use for this stuck to the bumper...
