They were doing a torture test on the truck before the pulling, which knocked around the hitch and rear casting hard more than once.

Add do that, the castings are designed to breakway at sections.

He definitely totaled the truck many times over in the video but I think the receiver failure was repairable. Casting only broke at the connection point. Not "in half." A good TIG welder and maybe some extra reinforcement plates can get it back in service stronger than it was new.
Or just replace the casting. Don't see a need to mod or redesign anything to account for a 1 in a million use case, which really isn't a use case, just a stunt. Reinforcing one thing just moves the failure point somewhere else. Maybe that somewhere else is even more expensive to fix and would completely disable the vehicle.

Is that s epoxy bond?
Is this real?
Really?
Are you serious?
Structural Adhesive, it's commonly used in *ALL* vehicles to bond metal parts together of different chemistries to prevent galvanic corrosion.

Of ALL the negative (inaccurate) info out there on OUR beloved CT, this video is getting a ton of hits. We all know the concrete culverts destroyed the rear end before the towing of the F-150 took place.
However, CT & Elon haters don’t see that part & latch on to the 60 seconds of cracker bumper failure.

I have to say the kid still knows how to sell a caffeine product and get sponsored with $$$ by totaling these vehicles.

Are you NOT entertained??? ?

I am glad I didn’t buy mine to beat the shat out of it, but the frame breaking will always be on my mind when I see someone towing a dump trailer loaded with broken up concrete and every time someone gets in and slams the door ( which I have always hated in any of my cars) I will be thinking about damage and as far as off-road abuse I will leave that to the you-tubers.

Wait, so a pump-sucking redneck who's made his entire career fawning over diesel trucks and mocking EVs absolutely trashes the rear end of the Cybertuck, then he gets his Ford stuck because the Ford truck is incapable, but then he and his fans are critical of the Cybertruck for being unable to tow the stuck Ford? That is some real hillbilly backwards logic.

Look, I'm as disappointed as anyone that the rearmost part of the Cybertruck frame sheared off, but as I understand the testing, the Cybertruck's rear was first structurally damaged by jumping it Dukes of Hazzard style, and then slamming it on the large cement pipes.

I hope Elon makes it tougher after this ?. I did think the metal strip coming off so easily was kinda lame. Doesn’t seem to be very functional or provide structural support.

I think the most legitimate concern about this video is the door panels coming off with a hard slam. I'd like to see that door slamming test of some other doors on other vehicles. But the doors shouldn't become non-functional after one hard slam.

“Play stupid games win stupid prizes.” That’s the quote that comes to mind. There will be news and media that pick this up and run with it. This will definitely lead to some bad press. Likely Tesla stock needs to drop a little more, this will be a contributor. Buy the dip! - *not financial advice*

As a CT owner, the only thing concerning to me is that the airbags didn’t deploy on the jump/crash.

While it may have released it clips it does not indicate anything was broken via being violently slammed shut. Very possibly the panel could have been pushed/clipped back into place before violently ripping it off by opening it. I am not sure I would exactly call this a failure. ?‍♂ Now I would be more concerned if, should the wind catch it and slam it rather hard and it unclips itself. That I would consider to be a bit weakly clipped in place. Credit where credit is due, the stainless and windows held up extremely well for the massive amount of abuse it took. There could be many cases where flying debris and occupant injury could be avoided. Such as unsecured loads tumbling at you, rocks, branches, tornado's, hurricanes, shrapnel from other close by vehicle collisions and such where I would feel rather safe compared to almost any other vehicle.
