The DeLorean manual suggests that if the vehicle is inverted, preventing the gull-wing doors from opening, the occupants should place their feet on the windscreen and press to loosen the adhesive and escape through the windshield opening.

Wow that is right near where I live. I think I saw this CT once, but it could have been someone else. This literally hits close to home. These news stories shouldn't bother you guys, unless you own stock. But even then its in everyone's best interest that EVs are made safer and less prone to fires. Solid state batteries or other chemistries might be part of the solution.

Honestly, my biggest fear right now is that our CTs are inescapable if the doors do not open or are blocked. Those resilient glass windows are nice, until the CT is filling with smoke or water.
The doors have handles you know.

I live just a few miles from this location... it's a bit rural and often people speed on this road. I am sure we will hear what happened but I suspect it was speed related.
Agreed…live close by too and that strip of Cedar Port Pkwy (orig news article called it Cedar Parkway) between the huge distribution warehouses (headed towards Fisher Rd) is like 6 lane wide drag strip. By no means am I implying they were racing, I think it said they were west bound on Fisher as well) just supporting your note about it being no man’s land out there, especially at 1:45am Monday morning. Thoughts and prayers for family and the driver no matter the cause.

Those back door releases continue to be one of the most frustrating things about Teslas, in my opinion. They've never been adequate as "emergency" exits. The levers on the front doors make so much more sense. I'm sure it is cost savings but I love the safety of Teslas and I wish they would put those same releases in the back doors.
I think the reason why the back doors are so difficult, are kids. They are constantly fiddling with things and can possibly “pop” it open in transit. That’s what immediately comes to mind.

The irony is amazing.... waiting for years for the vehicle destined to die in.
Who knows, maybe they were an “influencer” and didn’t have to wait for years.??‍♂ (Just here to contribute to the conversation ?)
