I received the 2024.32.20 update. FSD 12.5.5.

It seems good but I don’t understand how the speed control works. There is one setting switch that makes the maximum speed control NOT pay attention to the thumb wheel, and gladly speeds a lot over the speed limit… displays “AUTO MAX” where the usual max speed is displayed. How is this supposed to be functioning?

The other odd thing is that on the freeway it constantly hugs the left side of the lane, sometimes actually on the lane line.

Anyone understand these things?
You can set your own max instead of auto max. I use 10% offset (so will go at 44 on a 40 street). I don't like FSD going above 70, so on rare freeways with 70 mph limit, I reduce. Otherwise the 10% works well most of the time.

"Lane centering" is an old concept. FSD now drives in the lane, not always centered. If there are vehicles to the right but none to the left, it may have left bias (and the other way). This kind of change started because so many complained about going too close to large trucks on freeways.

What I experienced repeatedly was riding near, on, and over the lane lines even when there were no vehicles nearby, even running constantly on drunk bumps and little turtles, and a couple of times actually straddling a line. I had to abort and report a couple of times. It’s not a case of the truck misinterpreting where the lines were, the display clearly reflected the behavior. And also, it wasn’t momentary, but ongoing, doing a good simulation of someone not paying attention to driving. I don’t have photos of the worst because I was managing panic. A couple of times it was so close to sideswiping that I bet the oncoming driver freaked out. I know I did but the mirror stayed attached.

I’m expecting it to be considered a bug and addressed in an update… unless I’m the only one experiencing it. Am I?

Not heard anyone else complain about it. I've not driven much on freeways - so can't say much. On city roads I don't have that problem.

Recalibrating cameras might still be a good idea ...

Yes it is only on freeways and highways. I did 1000 mile road trip immediately after the update.

The display reflects exactly what I’m seeing through my windshield and left side mirror, so I would think the driving software is also seeing it. But how would I recalibrate the cameras? I would love it if that would solve it.

Mine was hugging the left lane line yesterday and drove in the rumble strips for about half a mile till I corrected it.
Thanks, I missed you stating this earlier. I’m somewhat glad that I’m not alone.

I just did some urban FSD driving, and lane centering was just fine. It seems that riding on the left side lane line is only a problem on freeways and highways . I guess I won’t recalibrate, and wait to see if an update fixes it.

It won't get fixed unless a lot of people are complaining about it (or disengaging because of lane keeping problems).

I’m seeing other people commenting on the left side lane-hugging. ?? that they report and it gets resolved.

You’re not alone. Mine does this too on freeways although its not so extreme as yours. Just biased towards the left side even with no cars around. This “bug”’seems unique to the cyber and is not the way FSD 12.5.4 on my Model X performs

Lane position isn't adjustable. If your vehicle is over the line and it shows it's in the line, a camera recalibration may help.
I just did that on my CT, I read it could need recalibration after an update. My truck was hugging the right side line, hitting every storm drain grate and almost some mailboxes and tree branches. I did a re-calibration and that helped a little but was still too closeto the right. I did another calibration and it works great now, keeps the truck centered in the lane. I think the most important step is to keep the truck as centered in the lane as possible, and even a little to the opposite side of which ever way it was favoring before. My truck was hugging the right so i made sure i was centered or to the left of center and it is very good now.

Yes, I also have 12.5.4 in my X (2024.27.25) and I don’t have any off-centering problem. On my Cybertruck the left-ness only seems to be a problem at highway/freeway speeds. I’m relieved to hear I’m not the only one. Thanks!

If the vehicle is going too slow, all you have to do is to press the accelerator to get you to the speed you want and then release it. It will maintain this speed until the next curve where it has to slow down.
in my case, it’s every five seconds I have to press the accelerator on the highway. Curves don’t seem to have much unique to do with it. It just won’t maintain speed no matter what I do.

You have to learn it.
Find a straight away and push it up above the current speed. If going from 45 to 65, it should now stay at about 65 mph.

I did that for literally hours on interstate 15 last night. Its unteachable.

It's not supposed to be teachable. That's not the way it works.
What I'm saying isn't teaching it, it is basically saying that this is the speed you want for these specific road conditions, if the road conditions change, it forgets it.

I've driven it for hours as well, for months. Remember, this your first introduction to FSD, not FSD's first introduction.
