If Will Ferrell can sneak in a Cadillac, you can pick up your pickup and put in in a container too:Yes, that would have been lovely, but I’m quite certain Tesla wont ship a lone CT to Norway just because my preorder number is very low. The ships take up to 8000 cars so I will have to be waiting for it to fill up more (there *are* at least 6000 preorders here and we do get them on the same shipments as the Netherlands and probably Northern Europe though), plus they have made no promise with regard to the rest of the world and will focus on getting them in hands of the largest truck market in the world in North America first. And probably region by region there too.
I’m thinking of all posssibilities ? But I’m not sure the CT even fits in a standard shipping container...If Will Ferrell can sneak in a Cadillac, you can pick up your pickup and put in in a container too:
I am reminded of the story of the person who would cross a very secure border every day pushing a wheelbarrow full of hay. Every day, the guards would search through the hay to make sure she was not smuggling anything. Every day they would find nothing and let her through. Turns out that she was smuggling wheelbarrows.I’m thinking of all posssibilities ? But I’m not sure the CT even fits in a standard shipping container...
‘Did you get an accurate estimate of delivery time after you got the email? When the time comes that we can convert our reservation into an order all reservation holders will get an email notifying them to "Prepare for delivery." The process of converting a reservation to an actual order involves a few steps. The people that actually take those steps will get put into a new queue as they wait. Those that don't... won't.
I did not. After my order was fully complete (payment secure, proof of insurance, etc) they gave me a 4 week window in which delivery could happen. The actual delivery was a week or two after that. As time approached they narrowed the window and things got more accurate.‘Did you get an accurate estimate of delivery time after you got the email?

One could get a friend to purchase your CT in a state with no sales tax (say Oregon). Then the two of you could drive it across the border into Canada. The stated reason for your friend to visit is to drive you home from a visit to Oregon. Once there, your friend could sell the CT to you and fly home.
I believe that all those steps are legal but I'm not a lawyer. Do not take any of my advice ever but especially here as legal advice.
That is accurate enough for me. I am looking at 3-5 years now. Thanks for sharing. Very helpful for those of us that are a bit in the dark.I did not. There will be a lot of CTs on the road in those states. Would it not make more sense to send a few to areas where there are not a lot of orders. I think that when people see them on the road and talk to the drivers the result will be a lot more orders. When I was waiting for an Elio I suggested that the company print up a card with information about the Elio and web site and phone info. and include a batch with every Elio shipped. I think Elon should do the same. I would be glad to hand them out to anyone who wanted to stop and chat WRT the CT. It would give them accurate info and get me on my way a little quicker. I know Elon is not a fan of advertising but for pennies he could get interested people more interested.Geography will play a huge role. So which US states have the highest orders? TX? FL?
Within the US, geography made no difference to Model Y orders.Geography will play a huge role. So which US states have the highest orders? TX? FL?
Not true. We were well down the list on the Y and were in the first batch (< VIN 3000 and 8th digit F Dual Motor...) last March. It all comes down to what market they want to flood and where they can ship the most cars to. And yes, you have zero control over that...Within the US, geography made no difference to Model Y orders.
