Actually means price cuts are more likely as they ramp production. They want to get to 250k units per year and profit margin allows them to cut to get there. Supply and demand curves make the world go round.

means no price cuts anytime soon
Technically it means there are pricing levers to pull, should sales drop or slow, to keep production lines moving.

Nobody is saying this, so I guess I will...To all the folks who compained about the price of the Foundation Series trucks with the extra accessories and goodies, THIS is the reason why Tesla did that. To get to profitability as soon as possible and not lose money on truck sales for some time to come (like other manufacturers)...The Foundation Series trucks with the higher prices have paved the way to profitability while at the same time providing a pathway for Tesla to successfully sell non-Foundation trucks as well.

Tesla didn't double the prices.

2019 dollars were worth a heck of a lot more than 2024 dollars due to accomodative fiscal and monetary policies that caused rampant inflation.

Great news. The big question will be: are they/ how soon are they positive gross margin on the non-Foundation series? At the end of Q3, they still had only sold FS models.
I think its going to be a couple of quarters, FSD baked into the $20k premium of the FS is a huge chunk of pure $. This will all depend on the FSD take rate of new non-FS sales.

Huh? People were buying on the earnings release which basically disproved the theory that car sales were cratering due to Elon's very public political stance and his willingness to speak very freely about what he thinks. I already knew that was a false narrative, but many investors didn't.

That's not trading on emotion, that's buying on good news that many investors weren't prepared for.

I tend to agree, at least one more quarter to be profitable on non-Foundation Cybertrucks. Elon did say that the FSD take rate picked up quite a bit after the 10/10 Robotaxi event. Hitting steady profitability will also depend upon the order mix between Cyberbeast and Dual Motor as the Cyberbeast is probably already slightly profitable at $100K plus whatever FSD take rate they are getting, with the Dual Motor losing a handful of thousand each with the current FSD take rate. I'm sure the FSD take rate is higher on the Cyberbeast.
