It's not a contest, but it is also not a flop.

I know for a fact they have produced over 47,000 trucks as mine is higher than that. Should be getting it in two weeks. Last check yesterday (10/29) was still in Austin.

It's frustrating that Tesla won't simply provide quarterly numbers for the production and sales of each model, like other manufacturers do.

Instead, Tesla only provides two production and delivery numbers. The first number is for the Model 3 and Model Y combined; the second number is for "Other Models" combined. The "other models" category apparently includes the Cybertruck, along with the Model S and Model X; it might even include a few pre-release Semis.

Why the secrecy?

Tesla has to release hard numbers when there are recalls. The most recent recall affected 27,185 Cybertrucks produced between November 13, 2023 and September 14, 2024. So the total should be well over 30,000 by now.

Vins are not always issued sequentially.

Are Tesla VINs sequential?

Tesla uses sequential numbers in digits 12-17 to directly represent the production sequence of the vehicle, starting with 000001. The Production Sequence numbering does not start at 000001 with each new model year. This numbering system allows for up to 999,999 vehicles of a given model.

The VINS are about 6-8k below the actual produced vehicles with the CT. This could mean they scrapped a bunch or they aren't issuing them sequentially.

I think the sales will maintain. I just had a neighbor who has a Model X...drive my CT and absolutely fell in love with the comfort, ride and handling. He said it was far superior to the X.

He called his brother who's CT reservation came up - to GET IT NOW or he would take it.

They look quirky...but nothing else about it is...

Also my neighbor has a flooring and cabinet business and was completely awe struck after sitting in the spacious back seat, driving it...then opening the back and having a secure covered 6ft bed.

He was sold...

What happens if they produce more than 999,999 in a year?

ALot of the current attacks are just politics by other means. People looking for anything negative to share their opinions.

The truck is amazing but it's not selling as well as Tesla projections. They need a cheaper version. Then we will see. The bold looks might be too bold. I love it. Our favorite vehicle ever. But I can understand it's not for everyone.

People were pissing all over Tesla long before the Cybertruck was revealed (I'm looking at you, Gordon Johnson, who picked a TSLA price target a year ago of $24 lool)
