In a power outage, a few kws now and then make life so much nicer. That's all I need from a vehicle.
I put a reservation down on a lightning. Refundable 100 bucks it a nice hedge against the CT not meeting my expectations.

Who cares what everyone else is doing or how much they cost. My opinion is that I wanted something different than normalcy. No other pickup has that except for Cyber Truck. You can’t change the headlights or add additional stuff to it and claim to be as good as what Cyber Truck is. Until I see their trucks running up and down the highway and doing the things they claim, I will take this as proposed bragging rights. As for me I will stay with Cybertruck.

I thought about hedging my bet with CT, but they said you'd need to order fall of '21, and that would force a decision long before the CT is ready for order (I think).

(And that may be a strategic move on Fords part)

Vehicle to home is easy with the Cybertruck.

A) run an extension cord from the CT to your refrigerator or TV or computer, etc.

or

B) get an extension cord with prongs on both ends. Turn off the breaker for the circuit in question. Plug one end into your CT and the other end into a plug on the circuit you wish to power.

The second option is a super easy way to power multiple circuits. Just turn off all your circuit breakers and the main. Plug the double ended cord into a garage outlet. Then turn on the garage breaker and any other circuits you want to power. This won't work for an AC or a clothes dryer, but it will work for small items like a TV or some lights. The power will backfeed from the truck to the circuits you turn on. Leave the main off to protect yourself and others.

So much info missing here.
What size battery, range is only an abstract number.
4x4, is that 1 motor with gears, 2 motors, 3, 4...
How many are they expecting to actually build to what time frame. Like Audi and Mercedes - stating to make 20k+ per year only to end up with less then 5k due to "shortages.. like Batteries..
What am I paying monthly for a charging "solution" withing the screen that doesn't communicate with the chargers and end up laying more per KW versus not using there "service" directly at charging station. Sorry Ford but there are still many issues that need to be fine tuned and fixed before I could really put down even $100 on a promise of a product.
Yes Elon time is delayed but at the end of the day it is a decent product, at least compared to the competition... if one can even call it that.

I think that is Vehicle to Home (act a as a backup generator and disconnect home from power grid while feeding power into the home) not Vehicle to Grid (sell power back to utility company) ...but then Tesla has this technology but refuses to do it.
Perhaps, I think some of the issue for this is due to some Model S variants that have FREE supercharger usage for the life of the original owner if I recall correctly? I can see how this creates an issue in V2G play.

I would not post this information on a platform available to the general public. A cord with male on both ends is known as a suicide cable. It is against code. People who understand it's usefulness and the risks involved with it already know what it is and how to use it. Explaining what it is and giving poor instructions on how to use it could be considered reckless. One example of the many possible things to consider is NOT to plug the cable into the hot (CT in this case) outlet first. Someone who understands what is happening would plug it into the dead end first so exposed prongs are never live.

Do not use a suicide cable.

I think the Tesla engineers have some thinking to do when it comes to the competition
  • Ford V2H Charging is a game changer
  • Rivian tow charging is a game changer
  • Rivian has the tank turn
  • Hummer has the crab walk
I think the crab walk & tank turn are a gimmick, but the V2H Charging and the Tow Charging are both features Tesla could offer with “minimal effort”. I know Tesla monitors this forum. Hopefully they already have plans to check these two boxes with the CyberTruck.

My overall take away I kept playing in my mind is that: “If you want the CyberTruck performance, you have to be willing to pay less.” Rivian, Chevorlet and Ford all fall short on Range, Towing, Payload, Passenger Capacity, Charging Network and Price. With that being said, there is no reason those companies should be able to out innovate Tesla.
Ford also purportedly will sell an auxiliary battery that increases range and rides in the bed behind the cab in the appearance of a tool box. I would definitely enjoy this option even if it only adds 50 miles or so.

Yup, I was not sure what that was all about. But I think they know Tesla has a 'don't call us, we will call you attitude so they are going the other way: "we call you so much you want to shoot yourself"

Both annoying. But I figure, by fall I should have more info about CT. If I can not test drive lightening and they can not guarantee a delivery time that is reasonable (and much better than CT), I won't make any real commitment to buy. I will just cancel the order. The registration for me was just a knee-jerk reaction because I missed the boat with CT and ended up at the end of the line so I didn't want to make the same mistake. And also being in the dark with CT, I figured a backup plan even for a few months is not a bad thing. Although I hate buying and selling cars and probably won't do this but F150s of any kinds are like gold, you can sell them and get a CT later. That is always an option. In my case I am fairly sure I won't have a chance of getting any kinda Incentives with CT (700,000 in line) but depending on their production there is a small chance with F150. All that said, CT has always been something I could get excited about, F150 a compromise at best (but one I may have to make if I remain in the dark with where I stand with Tesla).

I don't understand the attraction of V2G/V2H/VGI.

Very rarely do markets allow rate surfing (charging for cheap at night and selling back during peak). More markets are nerfing net metering and even penalizing solar/power generation.

If the issue is a cool feature, then I get some people are just like that.

If it's for emergencies, then the car is for leaving not charging the house. A dead car and a warm house is a trap. Also, there's this thing called a generator, it generates. Powerwalls (or any of the many battery solutions) are designed for the slow charge, slow consumption. Second hand battery repurposing is supposedly slated for this market. Why put the wear on your car, why not put it on a product designed for such issues??

Please don't forget efficiently loss, and we are only assuming this will be a pure sine wave. If not pure sine wave then there will be issuing with AC motors. Have they disclosed connection types? I only saw 120v and USB. I can only assume 240v for V2H.

PS.. I'm still waiting for the surprise of the info of CT Frunk.. I am seeing Zero info about it. And I like what Ford and GM are doing with there's.

Although I have nothing to base this on, and I could be wrong, I'm guessing both the CT and the F150 will provide true sinewave power.

As far as connection... I got the impression (again nothing to base this on) the V2H connection would be the normal charging connection but working backwards, into a special charger/ transfer switch device. Normally power would flow from the house to the truck to charge the battery. In the event of a power loss the device and truck would disconnect house from grid and power would flow from truck into house. Either via command from truck or phone, or maybe even automatically on power loss detection.
