Joe Tegtmeyer told me recently that there have been some Cybertruck production overtime Fridays recently and also a lot of production line changes as they are gearing up for a big 2025.

When Tesla reconfigures a production line it's not unusual to give production line employees a break for two or three days (or however long the changes to the production line will take to install).

Please stop posting links to fake news sites and giving them traffic.
InsideEVs have some good reporters. Just because you don't like what they are saying doesn't mean it isn't true. This story has been confirmed from multiple sites.

They probably have to switch to the lower cost line ASAP to start selling CTS again.
I thought CTS was a Cadillac product?

In any case, no, Tesla could continue to sell Cybertrucks made on the current production line, but their goal is to sell in steadily increasing volumes. To do that they need to produce more and at a lower cost.

There is a reason why Tesla didn't start with more than one production line, why they build volumes slowly. They work like the devil to constantly refine production processes and the configuration of the production lines to speed production and reduce labor. Simultaneously, they negotiate higher volume, lower cost supply contracts to reduce the cost of each vehicle. At the same time they identify and fix the vehicles potential reliability/durability problem spots to lower future warranty expenses.

It's all about bringing better products to new vehicle buyers at a lower price (and displacing an ever increasing number of internal combustion products). It's literally written into their mission statement and master plan.

The most likely reason is Tesla doesn’t want unsold Cybertruck’s on their Q4 balance sheet.

Apparently demand has caught up to supply. It explains why some customers are receiving a VIN within hours of placing their order.

It was the case in late October already (I ordered my non-FS Beast on Oct 20 and got VIN by the end of the day), now it is December. There is the rest of the world that is waiting for the Cybertruck, but it looks like that they could not open those markets fast enough.

While there can be several simultaneous reasons for slowing production, if only temporarily, the 80K vs. 50K starting price with no $7500 rebate plus the economy is definitely affecting demand. I wouldn't be surprised if one lever they pull is starting to make CTs for export. This means they will probably have to make some tweaks to the production line to accommodate other countries' requirements.

Nothing to see year, typical end-of-year line updates.

It won't surprise anyone who has familiarity with manufacturing that you don't take down all your lines at the same time for year-end maintenance and updates. You should expect to see the Cybertruck line down one week, the Model 3 line down another week, S/X line down another week and the Model Y line in Texas running through the Juniper update - maybe in Q1. That one, the Y line, may not go down at year-end unless they are staging for pilot production.

Porsche closes the Stuttgart 911 factory for three weeks every July - this is so the employees can vacation but also when the lines are revamped, new robots installed and trained etc. paid vacation of course - why do you think a Porsche is so expensive!
