Rear view mirror camera[updated camera/ screen solution - installed notes & photos

Here is mine with MicroSD slot for the DVR function. It is a Hansshow brand. You can also move the camera position up and down (touch screen) so I can actually see the inside of the vault.
I haven't cleaned my rear view camera for the last 3 weeks and it still looks clean and clear.

I do like the detaching front camera, I had seen your video a while back. One thing I noticed, and I could be wrong, it looks like you go under the side airbags, instead of over them. You may want to reroute if that’s the case. It won’t stop the airbags, but the airbags will rip the screen off, at a very high speed, maybe smashing into someone’s face.

Can the rear-view image be removed from the tesla screen? so you don't have 2 feed one on the hansshow mirror and one on the tesla screen

Yes, just press the camera button on your steering wheel while vehicle is in motion. It will disappear.

That needs to be done for each drive. Has anyone found a way to stop it from showing up and turn off permanently. Maybe Tesla will add an option for us to hide the built in camera view.

There is no official way, best way to suggest appears to be an influencer on X and suggest it. Once in a million suggestions get heard by the people that matter

As a few have posted above, Hansshow has a relatively easy kit option for those that are not daring to tinker with things, but I'm not a fan of the low resolution and the front camera option. I really am looking for a higher quality 2k or above rear view. I'm interested to see if anyone else finds a quality camera / mirror combo that works well and is clear.

In the setting there is a way to turn it off permanently, so that you have to push the button to turn it on, I think it’s under display.

As for now, this mirror/screen is only 1080p but is the best looking(least bezel, no wires showing at all, no time or any other unnecessary things on the screen) that I could find. It’s also commercial grade, so you can mix and match components, using industry standard cameras and connections.

I do hope for a better solution someday.

will probably wrap it in gloss. Black to match the rest of the truck.

I had not, thank you. Another thing I wonder about these aftermarket mirrors, can you turn off all the on screen text. I don't want to see the time, speed, direction or recording lights. Just the camera. Is that possible on the brands used in this thread?

Which rear view mirror did you use? You mention in the first post the one from Crutchfield, but you only gave the sign up link, not the link to the product or the name of it.
