... and then you don't have the side view when changing lanes. Why is it an either/or situation? Have you seen the views available in off road mode, where one can have the rear camera and both side cameras displayed simultaneously?
You can do that in any drive mode, simply clock the lower left part of the rear view camera, also, when turn signal is on, click camera button on steering wheel to display three cameras at once.

I would like to see the review view and side view "stacked" so that you can see both at the same time. I keep the side view on for safety reasons but HATE losing the rear view when the blinker is on.

Too much distraction and effort...software update could fix that.

We had heavy rain advisories in the area this last winter. I didn’t think the rear camera system was significantly worse than the reduced visibility with a typical rear view mirror in similar heavy rain.
This was a light/moderate rain. Definitely worse than a traditional rearview mirror.

I stand by my statement. Using your own video, there is not a significant difference. I wouldn't call that rear camera view unusable. Feel free to have your own opinion. (y)

Nice grab, similar enough in light/moderate rain.

Yeah, unfortunately I didn't get video the last time I was in a heavy rain. Mostly because I was in a heavy rain and wasn't feeling confident about FSD in those conditions.

The one thing is that the rear view camera is useless. It's always hazy and blinded by glare from any light source.

The rear-view camera "mirror" is all but worthless for anything but backing up. It is simply a backup safety camera, nothing more.

Even with the new 2x zoom it is still NOT comparable to a regular rear view mirror because the FOV is far too large.

IMO, the rear camera/mirror is one of the worst TESLA OEM implemented systems in the truck for a multitude of reasons:
-Not helpful in identifying traffic behind you.
-Not useable with the tailgate down.
-Barely useable with any type of precipitation or even driving on damp roadways.
-Totally disappears when a turn signal is activated.

Some of this can be addressed with software, but a lot of it has physical limitations. I am still hopeful we will get a purposeful upgrade from Tesla or an aftermarket manufacturer.
It would be great if they could integrate some kind of AI overlay to enhance the image and show potential dangers and highlight cars passing etc. make it a smart camera.

I completely agree with you. I had discussed this with my SA at Tesla, he says that they are aware but nothing I believe nothing is being done about it, along with a myriad of other issues they know about, engineering dept is slow or simply will ignore the concerns until there is a major uprising of owners or an intervention at the federal level.
