Who is betting that we will be seeing Cybertruck going out of Fremont this October (usually being driven and tested by employees who are allowed to take it home)?

I would have bet all the investments, my house and my wife's jewelries ;) but I don't have inside info now that my son left Tesla.

Fremont??!? If you had said Austin I would have said yes. One is not 100,000 but one video of "the first one" is probably enough for people to lose their collective minds.

Fremont is where they do the manual assembly and use it as a template for their final robotics line (at least during my son's time with Tesla).
Yep, yep, I get that. I'm sure the testing and iterating has been going for awhile (as we've heard), but it's production that's needed for the reservations to be consumed. I think owning an original "handcrafted" CT would be a major cool factor. Oh, and I would be able to pick up at the factory. I doubt we'll ever see any CT that go to the normal customer come from Fremont though.

There is a significant investment of time and effort to install the 8000-ton gigapresses needed for the CT castings. I'm skeptical these would be installed at Fremont, even temporarily.

I agree. But I would guess that the panels and components will be from the same sourcing as the launch unit -- with the complete accessories as the actual production vehicle.

My point really is that any unit being test driven off Fremont will be an encouraging sign that production will soon be at hand.

And as you said, we will all lose our minds doing our happy dance. Oh yeah, oh yeah...!:ROFLMAO:

Do not need 8000-ton gigapress in Fremont. If 8000-ton gigapresses are installed in Austin by Sept-Nov 2021 they can ship Cybertruck castings to Fremont.

Another solution to produce more realistic prototypes of Cybertruck is to CNC mill replica aluminum front/rear castings so they can continue work on testing the rest of full-size Cybertruck.

Knowing how Elon is stickler to being obsessive compulsive, I doubt if he'll settle with a replica to depart to the closest production unit as possible even for his test vehicles. Launch prototype, maybe, but test vehicle actually out in the streets is an entirely different animal altogether.

Sept... not Oct
If you are talking 2021, the only way I see that happening is this:

My assumption is that IDRA has to test the Gigapress before taking it apart and shipping the parts to Texas. If there were a few casts produced during that test, they could go to California before the machine is shipped and assembled in Texas.

Hay this is a wishful thinking thread, why not this.

Hey, wishing is free!

I'm expecting my CT will be delivered Oct. 1st.

But seriously, your assumption can't be far off.. That's what they (used) to do with the initially completed robotics assembly line.

I see no reason to believe Elon operates like that. His history is that he does not wait until everything is tested all at once perfect before doing something.

In fact, SpaceX is a good example. The rocket competitors spend decade trying to design perfect prototype and fear having a single explosive failure. SpaceX does do designs but not to perfection. SpaceX designs but also iterates prototypes in live tests and they expect a few explosions. SpaceX thinks if it did not explode we must be babying the unit, push it harder find out what the real world limit of the design is.
