Why do people keep assuming there is some sort of huge price hike all the way up to $100K? It makes no rational sense.
LOL. Are you suggesting that human people (you know those crazy apes that are responsible for all kinds of crazy shit) might be expected to act, dare I say it, rationally?

This whole thread is a pretty big example of irrational emotional actions based on fear and hyperbole. We get 1 (well actually 3) little tweet of good news and suddenly Tesla is bringing on the end of the world (as long as everyone else is using hyperbole and all).

But that's not the kind of technology I was talking about, under the skin it's the same old truck with beefier stiffeners added and more powerful engines mated to transmissions with more gears than ever.
Don't forget the ever growing complexity of the newer diesel engines and transmissions.

With EV's it's not the electric motors that are necessarily increasingly complex(more advanced, yes) it's the electronic controllers(and more advanced).

Those things are not transformative in the same way as re-imagining the entire structure and the material it is built of. And replacing the ICE engine and multi-speed transmission with real torque at all motor speeds.
Also torque vectoring, adjustable suspension height, load-sensing while pulling a trailer, etc. that are not available on ICE trucks.

It's called inflation. When the CT was introduced and people put their orders in prices of just about everything has increased because of inflation. There was no way that Tesla could keep the prices the same when it was introduced and when it will be released about 4 1/2 years later given the current inflation.

Why can't you crab walk with RWD only?
I'm not a pro. I thought that there might need to be a motor to turn the front wheels also to crab walk effectively. My thought is otherwise the backend would walk and the front end would not do the same.

Yes, their wild guess turned out to come true after Elon realized the Rivian had better specs than the CT. LOL!
I'd argue that the Rivian didn't have better specs - overall the CT is far better - the one spec people liked about Rivian Tesla has now adopted , which will appeal to more people. The F150 isn't even in the same game.

Early on, I was NOT wanting to be one of the early owners of a Cybertruck. Because it felt like it would be like driving a supercar around, way more attention than I seek.
Remember, the attention won't be focused on you, it's the Cybertruck people will be focusing on. And if you stand behind moving the world (mostly the US) off gas guzzlers, that's a very good kind of attention to get.

Yes, people will be blown away when the Cybertruck hits the streets, but they probably won't be looking at the driver much!!

Elon. Master of the dangling carrot. Fool me twice and that's on my dumb ass. Wonder if Tesla will refund holders with interest ? Coincidence he finally comes out with information when the stock is tanking. If he delays too much he risks loosing customers to Ford or GM. Rivian I think is more the casual pickup user market. Me. I need to haul stuff. I think Tesla will come out with about 25 - 75 trucks in fall of next year just to keep everyone interested long enough to delay till about 23 or 24. Anyone else care to guess their schedule?
Yes, Tesla won't mess around for months with low volumes. Once they get it down, it will ramp to over 100/day fairly quickly and then on to hundreds per day in short order and make your guesses look rather laughable. Exactly when the first ones start hitting real customer's hands (not employees) is the biggest variable. I'll guess by fall they will be pumping out hundreds per day. Elon will probably elaborate more on the expected timeline in short order.

That's not inflation.

Car prices haven't risen because of inflation. They've risen because of supply and demand.

Next year we'll see cars that were more expensive to make... But we'll see more supply. That'll be when we find out if this is inflation or not. Maybe.

GM unveils it’s all electric Hummer with crab walk four wheel steering (4WS). Some months later, Elon announces the CT will have 4WS. Rivian produces a few trucks and gets praise for it’s 4 motor system. Shortly thereafter Elon announces the CT will have a 4 motor variant.
When Ford announced it’s F150 Lightning, one of it’s selling points was being able to power your house in the event of a power outage. Vehicle to home (V2H).

Elon? It’s your move. ?

You have always had the chance to get a refund on your reservation. “Interest”? LOL

Delays cost Tesla millions and delay billions in revenue and they cost us nothing aside from a bit of frustration.
Yeah, interest on a hundred dollars would be pretty laughable. I think my savings account is still paying .05% (yes, 1/20th of a percent). I'm sure you could do better than that if you cared to but...

I can't imagine a real person is actually occupying their mind with the thought of the missed interest on $100 especially considering they can get a full refund anytime they desire. Is this some kind of joke (or a smear Elon campaign?).

I am happy. It is entertaining and will be a surprise when we get whatever we get! How can you not be happy about additional features? And the possibility that ranges will increase across the board.
i wanted the 500 miles range but not for 100k . Getting pressure from the wife now on model Y +tow option +new trailer.

we’ll see.

Tesla's stock isn't "tanking" I don't know where that came from.
TSLA naysayers love to dream about the stock tanking. They didn't take part in the thousands of percent increase over the last couple of years and some of them dream that a little 15%-20% correction is dumb investors losing all the gains they missed out on.

It's irrational hate and they can't help but let it leak out in their words. Normal people are sad they missed out but remain rational and are happy for those who rode the wave.
