The problem is we have no idea what the camera lenses are like on these and the Cybertruck is just a weird shape. No square angles to get an easy handle on. It’s one giant optical illusion.

...I only pointed out one flaw because I didn't want to keep pointing out other flaws? Like that you're measuring three points on different vertical planes and your measuring tool isn't taking into account the correct plane skew - you can see that it's off between the point in front and behind, it should be parallel, and it's not...

You can!t measure planes that are different distances from the camera that way.

Do you really think the tailgate leans back two feet in the image?

The camera distortion is fairly minimum here, take a look at the delta between the front and rear wheel it's around 6% reduction. So there is no in the world the bed can be 6.5' unless this video was taken in a different universe with different laws of physics...

Tesla Cybertruck Cybertruck prototype spotted again on Fremont track. (2/7/2022) ct3

Actually, you can, the ratio (WxL) in this case applies and the length looks very accurate, even 33" tires front and rear (which are in the same plane measurement with length) measures pretty accurately.

Chill everyone!!! We have at LEAST another year to wait until 2023 Cybertruck production begins at Austin.

What I find interesting is the more your brain views Cybertruck images the less "alien" it starts to look.

That doesn't solve skew or the tailgate.

I was just trying to help, if I saw that other dimensions are not working based on lens angle and distortion I will not be posting this... but all other measurements are working within 5-6% error.

I understand what you are trying to say, but based on everything it's just not physically possible that the bed is 6.5' long, it can be 5' or 4.5' depending on where it ends, but no way it's 6.5' unless there are no rear seats... So like i said 6.5' with the "midgate" option...

Sorry to interrupt.

When my son was working at Tesla Fremont, he said that initial production of new models are done manually where it being used as a template for the design and placements of robot assembly line..

A few are produced until the simulation is perfected and erected in a permanent assembly location.

And those few units will be seen around Bay Area for testing and by Tesla employees to report on their own test results.

He is a bit surprised that none of these tests and manually-assembled Cybertrucks are around yet considering those many years past the reveal.

These are really interesting points. Thanks for sharing that. I've also been wondering why we are not seeing more CT's around in general by now. Seems like either:

1) They are way further behind on this than they should be.
Or
2) They have been really good at keeping the CT under wraps, to keep other manufacturers in the dark about Tesla's plans.

I lean towards possibility number 2.

I actually lean towards no. 1 - Tesla is not trying to hide anything about CT by putting it on display at museums, in fact, they posted too much info even before finalizing the design, such as size differences, quad motor setup, rear ramps nowhere to be found, side storage is gone too... This is very typical of Tesla (and Elon) to announce something get pre-orders and design it later... That's why they got 0$ budget for ads..

We know they are way further behind than they should be. If they were on time we’d be seeing them on the road!

Usually public sightings of new Tesla vehicles start cropping up 3-6 months before shipping starts. I don’t think this is that unusual. Revised timeline suggests we won’t see more of them until July — August at the absolute soonest and that’s assuming Model Y production is spot on and they can start CT production January 1st which is unlikely.

If that is the case, what has Tesla been working on for the last 3 years? Surely with all that time they should have completed the design (except for some new changes like rear steering) and been preparing for mass production. Not to mention they have stated these things on earning calls. I think they are ahead of what we think and are sandbagging the release dates/numbers.

The CT is Tesla's first vehicle that will have actual competition from other OEMs. They know this and are playing games with them.
