It unfortunate in your environment, certain things are more required then others. However that is not the case for everyone. If a manufacturer wants to not include a heated wheel and seats for cars sold in Mexico they should be able to.

They should not require everyone to purchase everything. Yes I think the mobile connector is important for many people but apparently not all. By your logic some people will always need the extra space of the model Y so Tesla should force everyone to buy a more expensive car and not offer a model 3, because it is too small for some, lets force everyone to buy the bigger one or more then they need.

I would argue that removing the homelink was more invasive as an accessory as that needs to actually have it installed, but a cable accessory is not required no matter how useful some may find it. It don't not change the assembly line. Some people don't need the addon mobile connector so allow them to buy the car without it going forward,. People that ordered already should get it or a $200 discount if Tesla is out of them, but new orders should be able to choose it as an addon.

We are in transition and a changeover of policy was coming now or soon enough

We don't need redundant equipment in every car sold.. Tesla will sell 5 million cars soon and then to 20 million. Do they need to make 20 million kits for the off chance 1 in 10,000 may need it.

And even if someone needs it... did they have an alternative choice ?

It would be like if every ice vehicle gets a petrol hose in their boot.

We won’t need it.. there will be a standard ,,, like petrol pumps

By your logic ...
Nope. Didn't say any of that. My arguments were laid out point by point.

Only 1:55,000 cars in the US 'needs' airbags to save a life.

But you guys did just argue that manufacturers shouldn't be required to put airbags in their cars...

Just sayin', infrequency is just one multiplier.

If having the charger saves 1 life to 50,000 Teslas, that would be equal to an airbag.

If having the charger saved one traction battery out of a 100 Teslas, it would pay for itself.

Of course, both can be true, both are benefits. But the frequency of them are such that we know in the last year there were at least a dozen Teslas stuck in a mountain pass. Maybe more. How many needed power? How many lives were saved? How many times was a battery saved because a stranded Tesla had the mobile charger?

It's hard to know these things. And there are fewer chargers in the wild than there are EVs, you know. In a pinch, you end up with lines waiting for power.

Anyhow, I didn't say one way or the other. I'm just saying these are valid points that need to be weighed. It doesn't matter if you think they're silly. Silly is a terrible argument. Maybe having blue hair is silly, but I think it's fun.

I looked it up on wolframalpha,
The risk of getting stuck in a mountain pass in Australia and dying vs dying in your home is sixquiliionzillion zillion to one

Yeah, it's alot higher if you travel through mountain passes like I did twice yesterday.

Of course, your chance of being killed by a kangaroo or frog is much higher than mine.

There is a Tesla charging in Santa Ysabel and Scripps Ranch. Not too far from Ramona. Word of advice for anyone taking delivery of a new Tesla, demand at least a 80% charge before signing off!
None of those super chargers were installed at the time of delivery on 9/20…but happy to see them popping up since our purchase. With solar I charge 100% at home unless we’re on a road trip.

There are more drinking straw related injuries every year than lives would be saved by a free charger. More avocado injuries too. Did you know some number of crazy people slam a knife into the seed to remove it because they don’t own a proper avocado tool? And some number miss, and go to the ER. We should mandate avocado tools with every avocado. They’re only $4 at IKEA!

Not having a charger is potentially a huge inconvenience.

I seriously doubt it will ever be a life saver.

You’d have to run out of power where there is AC, but no cell service or other services to assist you. Seems like a bit of a stretch. It’s far more likely you will have a cell signal but no power outlets than the reverse.

There's a strange assumption that help would be always be coming.

In all of the situations I have listed, help is overwhelmed by demand or conditions to arrive. (And a spare tire wouldn't have helped because you also wouldn't be able to go anywhere anyhow.)
