Tonight a friend took their Cybertruck out for a top speed test... and 114 mph was too slow

The dual motor just couldn't hit 115 mph. Maybe it was the AT tires, which were only at 50 psi, with no wheel covers

Interestingly my friend noticed that the rear wheel steering created odd handling at 114 mph, when confronted with a sweeping turn. It's suspected that the rear wheels were turning as if to change lanes, as the sweeping turn was very gentle (which accomodated the top speed well). The handling proportedly felt like swaying, not fishtailing, but the entire vehicle swaying, with the bare minimum of steering input

Aerodynamic drag was significant, even audible in turns. The battery level depleted at a rate of 1% every 3 seconds at 114 mph. Again this may be the tire situation

Suprisingly my friend said the wheels maintained perfect contact with the road, so no need for down force from spoilers. The Cybertruck was deceptively stable, apparently feeling like it was going only 80 mph when at 114 mph

As well my friend said ALL the neighborhood Cybertrucks were out tonight. I was told the nighttime Cybertruck wave is a headlight flash

Hearing all of this, my thoughts are the Cybertruck could benefit from some aerodynamic aids, like a front skirt to further prevent air from getting under the vehicle. Also I think the Core Wheel AS tire Cyberbeast people have the best configuration for top speed performance

My friend is now considering upgrading to a Cyberbeast

I pre-ordered the CyberBeast back in early 2020 and still don’t regret it. However, the top speed of 130 mph wasn’t as important to me as the 0-60; which is extremely impressive given the size and weight of that beast.

I'm not sure why top speed matters at all for these cars. There's not really any reason to go over 90mph and that's in only extremely limited situations. No need to drive that fast.

It's useful in short bursts, 0.001% of the time.

The dual-motor is software limited to 112 mph. Anything over that might just be speedometer error.

0-60 is why I got the beast as well. I don’t need reach go to jail speeds.

You get busted tearing ass 0-60MPH you got issues with "reckless driving" if the LEO wants to press the issue so FYI there.

I remember thinking in my MSP at the time "Hey, it's not my fault my car can hit the "speed limit" within 0.05s. However once the tire situation was clear, I never slammed it down much at all and frankly I didn't want that level of violent speed in my daily live. lol

0-60 isn't going to help there.

  • Getting away from a road raging driver
Any Tesla can do that
  • Getting the groom to the wedding on time
0-60 isn't going to help there.
  • Escaping from police

You need the 130 mph top speed to make 10 second quarter mile times at the track

Also I've driven countries where people actually do drive 110 mph (the big highway in Romania). It's a reality. I've done it in a 4 cylinder Skoda (Volkswagen) sedan. At the track I rode a stock GSX-R at 130 mph. If the Cybertruck is to be taken seriously as a performance car it has to reach these speeds

The Cybertruck is very impressive. It seems impossible that a pick up truck handles like a Mercedes AMG

This truck, nor any truck should be driven on public roads at these speeds. Good luck if you need to maneuver or brake to avoid someone at those speeds.

Not in a dual motor you don't.

Most of the time you escape the police in the first 30 seconds and is usually at quick speed bursts and evasion, after that odds are in the 90% you're not getting away. Experience ?
