Tesla has not always offered the highest-profit / highest-spec models first.

For Model 3 they launched with the LR RWD, and AWD and Performance were not available for about 3/4ths of a year.

For Model Y, Performance and LR AWD both released at around the same time I believe.

I just want to point this out, because a lot of people believe that Tesla always launches the most expensive vehicle first, and its not factually correct.

It would be correct to say Tesla does not release the cheapest models at launch (short range RWD configurations). I don't think they have ever done that, but they don't really have a consistent history of offerring their highest spec at launch.
You missed mentioning my word "USUALLY".

Sorry, I did see the word usually and I still thought it was inaccurate.

EDIT: On rereading your post, I see you aren't claiming that only the higher specs are sold first, just that they are normally initially available trims for delivery, not including the Model 3 launch. That would be sort of true (if you leave off things like PLAID+). I am leaving the rest of the post as is, as it still highlights they don't have a history of only offering the highest trim at launch.

Usually implies they have a strong pattern of doing so, that it is the norm. I am arguing that it has not been shown to be the norm.

Tesla didn't launch the Model 3 or the Model Y with only the max spec/max profit version available.

As far as I am aware, both the Model S and Model X refresh were available in both AWD LR and Plaid at roughly the same time for the refresh launches as well (please note, I have not done in depth analysis on Refresh Model S and X releases, and I generally don't pay a ton of attention to them, this based on memory and some quick fact checking).

You would have to be looking back to 2015 and before with the launch of the original Model S and Model X Signature Editions for this to be true.

and if it is 5 below zero Fahrenheit, you stay home!
I see you are retired. That is an extremely shortsighted, retired, fogey statement. Some of us have jobs. Others, like those in the military, police, fire, medical (🤚), grocery, fuel, road maintenance, etc., professions MUST get to work regardless of the temperature or weather conditions. I strongly suspect you would be the first to voice your displeasure about the day shift calling in “cold”. Sorry, can’t come in. It is -5F and the judge said stay home. I guess you can wait until the weather warms up until it is okay for us to come in. Hope you have a very large bladder and you got your pain meds before the night shift leaves.

What attracted me the the TRI motor I reserved was the 500 mile batteries. I already have an X that goes 200 miles on a 5 year old battery set , I might as well just keep it. A 350 mile cybertruck is still just a grocery getter like my X

Not having at least 400 miles Is a big miss considering they told us 3 motors would yield 500
Won’t be taking delivery of mine without 500 mile range. Towing an RV trailer has to get 180 mile range to be usable for my use case. That would be the death of the Cybertruck before it even got started. Bested by the Silverado EV in mileage. Sorry but that would be a very BIG mistake on Tesla’s part that I am sure they will fix within the year.

You're wrong! But, you're not wrong, sorry.

Tesla has stated before that the CT is 4680-only.

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Tesla...motor-AWD-model-releasing-first.734300.0.html

It makes logical sense as the Quad would be the flagship of the Cybertruck trims. The move would be similar to Rivian. They launched their Quad Motor first and followed up with a Dual Motor version at a later date.

If the rumor turns out to be true I predict Tesla targeted over 835 HP to one up the Quad Motor Rivian R1T.

If this prediction comes to fruition I expect the Quad Motor MSRP to be around 15% higher than the Tri Motor $69,990 reveal pricing announced in late 2019 (just under $80k).

My suggestion to Telsa: 350 miles Quad CT + portable battery/powerwall extending 500 miles when needed. The portable powerbank/powerwall can be placed into the extra storage under the bed or anywhere in the bed.

You misread the thread. In fact, the last time I drove in weather like that it was 13 below, and I did not stay home. The point of the thread was that 350 miles range for the truck is not suitable. I would be forced to stay home by the truck not by my retired status and fear of cold. On a personal note, why would you assume I am on pain meds? Keep your nasty tone to yourself.

Notebook says 350 miles of range with the QUAD motor. RIVIAN with their 180 kWh Pack gets ~400 miles
I still can't see why Tesla WON'T do better!
The numbers show 175 kWh (~163 kWh usable) in a QUAD set-up and using the tech based on the SEMI leading motor disengage clutches to run efficient at speed.
# 3.1 miles per kWh should give ~507 miles of range. (On a sunny day)
Let's see if Cd 0.33 or 0.30 is CYBRTRK.
I'm 83.42% sure that they just get their info from our speculation so its not exactly ironclad.

Tesla will not build a truck with under 400 miles...wait and see. Batt tech has changed for the better in 4 YEARS.
