3D printed MagSafe charger

I have been wanting to make this for over a year. It sits atop the virtually useless OEM charger (at least for my iPhones).

I tried using it with the silicon cover but the magnet barely sticks. Still in prototype form, but it works!

Wow. I haven’t even thought about selling the completed unit or the STL. Let me keep working on it and let me think how to move forward. Previously I’ve posted the STL for stuff to print and if someone wanted me to print a model and send it to them I’d charge a fee. The side visor clip has been fairly popular.

I agree. I kept waiting for a fix until I garnered the motivation to do it myself. I don’t know of a way to disable the OEM charger but that’s certainly preferable.

If you could JUST take the card reader portion of the Tesla device and add it to that ... then the whole dang thing would work like it is supposed to.

I’m still cleaning up the design a bit. For instance I could get rid out that center slit and make the entire thing flat. But it kind of looks cool with the slit. I printed with PETG-CF and painted with flat black ceramic paint for heat to clearance. The MagSafe chargers I’m using have a certain diameter and are different from my other units. The cable is female to split male usb-C. Point being it’s not exactly a slam dunk just getting the STL, nor is it rocket surgery.
I’m trying to work out a fair price for the completed unit to help figure out if I could make the entire unit and send it out making us both sides happy.

Cover it with a stenciled vinyl wrap layer. Should look professional and clean then... Awesome work. I imagine it's easy to cut a wire and/or install a switch to enable/disable the built in tray. Elon YEARS ago claimed a software feature was coming to do that but it's never manifested. 2 weeks I'm sure...
