Eh, I appreciate Rivian, and think their vehicles are.... cute. But the utility of the CT well outpaces the R1T in pretty much every category, including the machismo that comes with having a truck.

IMO the R1T fills a very specific and narrow niche, which benefits from smaller size and posh styling. There's also the faction of the country who have an irrational and ignorant bent against Elon and thus Tesla. Additionally there's the justified resentment of sticking out like a sore thumb driving around a low-poly Warthog.

Outside of that, I wouldn't consider a Rivian to be "more capable..." unless we're counting capability by the pounds of cooked sausage from built-in luxe glampware.

edit: the irony of growing up in the wild-west of NSFW internet days, only to discuss ultra-modern vehicles with someone named "love2cyber" isn't lost on me.
I think the CT is going to be Teslas biggest test because its previous vehicles basically made their own market and they are S3XY, which is fading a little as more competition is abound. The CT has some real competition out of the gate. The Rivian is clearly aiming for the market you mentioned, which works because it’s priced high, the lightning is trying to capture a broader market but definitely a more general person and worker based market.

The CT is clearly the most stunning and unique looking. There will be Tesla fans that would buy it if it looked like a stainless Weiner mobile but once those fade away there are a lot of people that really just like the look and many don’t care as much about the look but appreciate the features. I bet there are at least a million in those categories. And by then it will either have carved its own norm or it will struggle to continue to sell because its just too polarizing and there will be a lot more competition on the market by then.

No NACS and near 100k price point for the R1S with the max pack battery is a deal breaker, I’ll stay with Tesla and get the Cybertruck even if it’s similarly priced(hopefully much less).

Tesla is the biggest EV seller in every country.. apart from the odd pedantic exception.

On a Global scale... Rivian who ? —And I mean no disrespect.

Firstly, competitors do not have the EV manufacturing volume capacity to keep pace with high Global demand if there was any.

Hummer , Lightning , Rivian may have got in first, but they have only dipped their toe in the local pond.

The history of true first mover advantage will be re-written.
Tesla will roll out 200,000+ by end of 2024, and from what I have seen so far, most snippets of video I see of the CT in the wild mostly includes people of all ages with a mix of excitement.

We are yet to experience it, but it seems clear to me, the Tesla trend will continue, and the CT will not lack new customers.

CT over R1T for me without a doubt - r1t won't tow my trailer and the bed is too short for multiple dirt bikes! That being said, trading my wife's SUV for an R1S (if I can get her over EV Range Anxiety) would be perfect!
