I got a call from my local ford dealer a couple of days ago asking if id be interested in an unsold lightning lariat. I cancelled my original order this past january when my turn came up way faster than anticipated. Told him no thanks im awaiting the ct
Unsold because the buyer vomited then punched the salesman after seeing $20k dealer markup?

I'm very curious about the price breakdown surrounding the promised solar panel option. That's a very big deal for me!

For a lot of us.

It should make a huge difference for multi day comping trips. Airport stays. I don’t need a second charger at home.

Indeed. I can't help but get excited to never NEED to charge for around-town errands. Sunny southern California, planning on maximizing California's sunny features.

Wouldn't it be great to go camping for a week and leave with more battery than when you arrived? Or better yet, run quality of life stuff from your truck indefinitely? Game changer for me!

Completely agree.

For me, I will use the truck 2-4 days a week and it’ll be idle the rest of the time. With solar, I go on a trip, recharge to 70%, and don’t necessarily need the charger for my truck for the rest of the week.

But camping… or any muiti day trip this would be fantastic. Just offsetting vampiric drain would be fantastic.

What if solar on the truck costs $15,000? Is it still a valuable option for you?
If it costs more than $5k, I am pass...
We had some long threads on solar a while back and lost interest falls off somewhere below $5,000. For me that’s a pretty tough pill to swallow. $2k seems reasonable unless you are talking about deployable sails Musk hinted about.

I’d want better than 20 miles a day for $5k above that is almost guaranteed nope.

Yes. $15k would suck, but yes it would still be valuable. It's not a comparison for me because you're asking me how much my peace of mind is worth to me. A steep upfront cost to me is much less concerning than high maintenance/warranty cost.

I hope solar is offered.

Not only will it pay for itself over the lifetime of the vehicle, there will certainly be times when that extra free range you found yourself with, will be handy to get home and charge at a more convenient time.

You know the solar tonneau will add less than 10 miles with a full day of sun right?
