I got mine on May 5th in Texas. I feel that there were issues in the build quality that they address and since I picked it up in Texas, I may have benefitted from those improvements. I theorize that they built a bunch and sent them out of state so those ones would be slightly (like a week) older than the one built for me.

Mine has zero issues so far like what is being reported. A shop that has seen many cybertrucks come through for tints observed that my truck has no apparent imperfections in the panel gaps etc compared to what they've been seeing.

Sorry for your pain.
VIN #? In the 9,000s?

At least they told you what the issue is. My Beast, also low 9000s VIN, had delivery delayed multiple times. They said "issue was identified, it had to be loaded on a flat bed and brought to a service station that can fix the issue."

I've asked multiple times what the issue is, as that should at least let me know approximately how long I need to wait. They won't disclose the issue. I may be waiting another week or another month, I'm completely in the dark.

I imagine low 9000 Beast VINs came down the line on layoff day and the quality reflects this. Has anyone taken Beast delivery of an early 9000 VIN and had no issues?

Tesla made major league quality products, but the company itself is worse than a minor league joke. I wonder how much of their success is based on past accomplishments, and maybe this is the end of an era. CT was still developed while the brightest employees were around, I assume the Model 2 delays are largely because the company doesn't have the competence to produce the vehicle anymore. It's happened to many other manufacturers, they peak and never get to the same level again. I assume we're seeing that now.

Same thing happened to me for my model Y a couple years or so ago. They postponed delivery on me like three days before the scheduled date or something and wouldn't tell me what the problem was. Each day I called for an update I would ask what they were fixing and usually the answer was I can't tell you. But then one delivery advisor straight out told me that a speaker was broken on a routine check and they fixed it, and then it got delivered shortly after. all that to say they've got a rigorous pre delivery inspection at the delivery centers and be glad they caught something--better for them to fix it up front rather than wait for an issue that you notice and then have to bring it in and deal with a loaner/uber credits/driving back and forth.
I found a picture of a front drive unit for Cybertruck. Is this like replacing the front engine? If you bought a car and they replaced the engine how would you all feel? This seems like a major fix…
yeah I know what you mean but have a different perspective. my first Tesla was an S. about 45k in I brought it in for an annoying rattle and while they were riding in the car to diagnose the sound, they deemed the drive unit in need of replacing because of the dreaded milling sound, which I had just come to accept. so basically a brand new "engine" at 45k in. I was pretty stoked lol and the new drive unit was a lot quieter

On this point, I think we need to accept that electric cars a little different in terms of what we consider Central to its existence. In gasoline cars, it's the engine so we disregard so many other parts that are considered routine wear and tear whereas if something happens the engine, we consider that the car is totaled or significantly destroyed.

In the case of the electric, the battery is basically the equivalent of the engine. The number of times it's charged reflects the age of the car so it's not about how many miles you drive it, it's how many times the battery has been charged and that's how they define it as well. So over time, there's battery degradation and range laws and that's generally accepted measure of the age of the battery.

However, with an electric car, the motors are also relevant and I would say that the motors fall under the wear and tear, they're supposed to last forever or for the life of the car but it's possible that they're replaced and it doesn't really impact the quality of the vehicle so long as a good replacement is put in place.

For my model s, nothing wrong with it, one day it just won't move and has an error message. I took it in or had it towed in and they looked at it and they concluded that the entire battery pack had to be replaced.

Essentially, after 5 years, I basically got a brand new battery back. I feel like that's a pretty good deal. I really can't get myself to sell the damn thing now.

New to the site and not typically a poster but I think I just need to vent. I have had the car for 6 days and 4 of those days in the shop. Like most of you I have been waiting for 4 years and finally received my truck on May 10, 2024 here in Franklin, TN. The process of picking up a $100k truck was a bizarre experience in itself. Walking up to a counter and signing some documents and being told the parking spot it’s located in was strange. It was like picking up a Hertz rental car. Not even a thank you or congrats.
First issue I had was the tonneau cover not being installed properly. The rubber dividers were getting caught when being closed due to the cover being uneven.

They tried to fix but then decided they will need it for the whole day. Put me in a rental and picked up at end of day. This was this past Monday.

Tuesday morning took my kids to school and decided to switch drive mode from the sport mode to custom. I then realized I was getting a warning about height not being able to adjust. I then noticed another warning that I missed about not being able to charge and that the truck needs service. Took it in and they put be back in a rental. Finished at end of day and apparently there was a hose that simply was not connected that made the car rise and lower.

Then, this morning I go out to the truck to take my girls to school and the truck is a complete brick. I cannot even open a door, unplug charger, open bed…I mean nada. Then Tesla had to literally send 3 different tow trucks with a total of 10 hours of waiting. I won’t bore you with the details but just simply an awful experience. None of the drivers, except for the last one, knew what to do, yet I had the Tesla service rep texting me that they will know what to do.

So now, at 9:33pm CST, I can only assume they have the car because I did not get any kind of confirmation nor any service notification in my app. Day 6 a brick in my driveway and day 7 will be in the shop. I really hope this is not common.
We were planning on taking this in a road trip but I really have my doubts. Anyways, thanks for listening and, again, just wanted to get this off my chest and share my experience so far. The few days I did drive it I absolutely LOVE it! But this experience has left a very bitter taste.
Mime had been in the shop for almost 2 months now... for the charger connection and the speakers not working... they can't figure out the issues

Putting u in rental junk is horrible. Plaid at minimum. Seems end of line check is not working. Pure lack of attitude at the top. Elon go to the line. Show u care. Get out of politics. Fix this mess.

Wow.... Hey east they got you in early!

I had the suspension problem and tonneau issue day 2 of ownership, and they told me to wait a month! I still haven't gotten in. Just lucky the suspension issue resolved itself or I'd be SOL.

Sorry you're also dealing w shit, but be glad you're at least able to get in a shop ?

When sales are down and there has been a massive outlay of capitol to build multiple new Gigafactories and new production lines laying people off is one of the only way to control expenses.

Yes, morale at Tesla is down, which is yet another reason not to take delivery of a CT being built right now unless you simply must have it as soon as possible.

Elon has just as much right to be vocal about politics as any corporate head who is left leaning on everything... nobody seems to complain when they run their fat mouths.

If people don't like it, don't buy his company's products.... or just get a thicker skin.

Did you actually get a new pack? Tesla usually replaces with remanufactured packs. Invoice will say 'reman'.

Any update?
Yes, so I went down to Tesla to get all my stuff out of the truck, since I wasn’t going to be able to take it on my road trip, and let them know that nobody from customer service has contacted me yet to discuss any type of compensation for having my truck in the shop for so long. They told me this is the first time this has ever happened to any CT and they thanked me for my patience and that they are using my car as basically a case study, taking pictures, using top engineers, etc. Not sure what to make of all this.
