BTW, I leave the tonneau open all the time without triggering the alarm (although I do get an app notification "hey your fly is open" lol). The only time I've inadvertently triggered the alarm was with the open tailgate.

Are you sure no one entered your garage then ran away when the alarm went off? Did you have sentry mode on?
Short answer is no. Several other motion Cameras they would have to pass in front of, including one looking at the vehicles in my garage.

2024/07/29: My truck just went off again at 0959. I then shut the tailgate to see if this makes the difference. I have software 2024.20.9

Update 2024/07/29: we have had really heavy rains here to the point of less than 30ft visibility. The tailgate was closed during the 2 hour drive home yesterday and, after letting the bed air out from the little water that came in when i unloaded it, i shut the tailgate and water came pouring out the bottom. The only thing related to the alarm in the tailgate would be the closed indicator and the camera. I add this info hoping together we can figure out the root cause.

Update 2024/07/30:
No alarms the last day i had the tailgate shut. I hauled some things requiring the tailgate to be open this evening and parked it with the tailgate down for a couple hours. The alarm just went off. Seriously Tesla, a truck gets used a lot with the tailgate down!

S,3,Y,CT,CT(holding pattern) Slate is back on
One of my clinchers of two back was occasionally showing as not latched. Then alarm would go off in the middle of the night. Service replaced one of them. They didn't put it back together correctly.

Update 2024/07/31:
Went off at 0700. Looks like it's related to both the tailgate being down (stupid reason for an alarm on a truck if you were the last one to actuate it) and on the hour, though i can't figure out spacing.

Found it in the owners manual. Obviously the code was written by a person who doesn't own and use a truck as a truck!
If you go into the manual, you will find that the security alarm is activated if the doors are locked and any one of the following are open: Door, Frunk, Tailgate or tonneau cover.
*NOTE: Sentry and Security Alarm are separate functions with separate ability to turn on and off.

To turn off the security alarm:
Under Settings, Security, unselect "Security Alarm"

I hope this helps and here's to hoping some coder at tesla changes the tailgate and tonneau cover to only activate if they change indicated state while locked, rather than indicate open while locked.

This just happened to me. I was at home and left the tonneau open and the tailgate down in my driveway. A while later I got a notification that I left it open but I did not forget about it so I left it open how did you feel when you saw and I thought I would close it an hour later. No one was near the truck and another hour later the alarm started sounding.

I’m seeing the same thing suddenly. Anybody get any kind of definitive answer on what was going on here?

Necroing this thread... i've had this happen twice in the past week or so. Both when I left it parked with the cover open, tailgate closed. No sentry, 2 cameras on it and nothing after checking the footage. Sunny days and parked under cover.

I just recently started leaving the cover open to air out some of that off gassing smell. Cover might be a coincidence but yea...

Anyone else?

I’m on another extended cross-country road trip in my beast. After a short night and an early 04:00 start I stopped to supercharge. I was fiddling with my phone and the app not only froze, the entire phone froze. Nothing worked so I powered it down and promptly fell asleep in the driver’s seat. I was awakened from a deep slumber by the clunk of the relays when the charging limit was reached. Very groggy, I move and all hell breaks loose as the alarm sounds. I cannot do anything to silence it on the big screen and am frantically trying to get to the app on my phone. But it’s powered down (duh, no Bluetooth for the phone key to work). Y’all know how long it takes a iPhone to reboot? Well imagine that with your CT alarm going off and everyone around giving you the ā€œWTF?ā€ look. Then the phone powers up with the ā€œYour passcode is required after a restartā€ message and I fat finger it a few times in a row. Suddenly it hit me the spare key was in my wallet so I pulled it out and stuck it in the console. Voila!

The things you learn…
