I am currently single and live by myself. I have one vehicle. I know there have been other similar threads like this asking if the CT will be their "main" vehicle, but I'm wondering if any of you have experience of having an EV as your only vehicle. I've considered keeping my Grand Cherokee when getting the CT, but I really don't have the parking space to do that without it becoming a headache. If I was a multi-vehicle household I could see getting the CT and keeping an ICE vehicle for unforeseen circumstances were the EV would be impractical or inconvenient. I'm just a little scared about jumping into the EV pool headfirst without a security blanket. (sorry for the mixed metaphor).

So... any EV only households out there? If so could you share your experiences?

I know of a bunch of them. Some have Bolts or less and are adventurous in their roadtrips.

Others have Tesla or better and well, a Tesla roadtrip isn't really any different than any other.

Being able to fill up at home (or hotel) is just so cool.

Sold my Jeep Wrangler in January, now we only drive the model 3. Haven't been to a gas station in over 6 months.

Honestly, it's better. My own house is a "gas" station and I always leave full. Road trips are easy and laid back with the super charger network. I stopped charging over 300 miles because, frankly, I WANT to take a break on my road trip sooner than 3-4 hours.

Oh, and charging from the sun doesn't cost more if I use more... So there's that.

You'll be just fine with a Tesla as your only car.

I have owned my Model 3 for 2.5 years, and originally kept my Mazda 3 as I figured I would drive that as a backup, to keep miles low (I drive a lot).

After the first year I sold the Mazda because I had no interest in driving it over my Model 3. I loved the Mazda 3, the Model 3 was just more enjoyable and comfortable to drive.

My wife drives an SUV, and the only use I have for it is when I visit the hardware store or are doing landscaping/home projects and need the extra space. CT will solve that, and I will no longer need anything other than my CT.

Thanks all. Great feedback.
I have one scenario that gives me a little worry. I apologize ahead of time if anyone feels they've heard this story before, I have told it in a different thread. My parents driveway is 290 miles from my driveway. I make the trip multiple times a year. Depending on my mood, time of day etc. I sometimes make the trip non-stop. If I do stop it's usually 10 minutes at the most. I am getting the tri-motor. At first, 500 mile range seems more than enough for the 290 mile trip until you realize that is assuming ideal conditions. For starters, I drive above the speed limit. Half that trip will be 80 MPH or higher. I typically make at least two trips in the winter (Thanksgiving and Christmas) which will also take a hit on range. Now, for those planned trips I feel fairly confident I'll be able to make the trip if I charge to 100%. What I'm most worried about is an emergency trip. Two years ago my sister called me. Dad had a stroke (he's fine now). I threw some clothes in a duffel bag, grabbed my dog and off we went. If I had the CT and I was out running errands all day and my battery was say 60% or less when my sister called, I'd have to charge at some point to make it to my parents. That is the one scenario I think of that gives me range anxiety. Anyone have thoughts on that?

By the way, dad is excited to see the CT and said he'd install a 50A receptacle so I could charge at his house.

Again, you'll be fine. 20-80% is very fast at super chargers. CT is at 50%, get a call, start the trip. 10 minutes at a super charger somewhere on the way will get you at least 25%, around 125 miles in the CT...
If you have to charge, just charge. The car will tell you when you have enough to arrive. Just keep in mind that currently Tesla assumes you'll be charging at your destination.

Actually... Now that 300kW chargers are coming out, the CT will be able to charge at 1000+ mille/hour. So that'll be closer to 160 miles in 10 minutes ... That's awesome! Better pee fast!

Here's my model 3 the other day:

We're an only-EV household. We haven't had any major issues beyond having to route via superchargers instead of via our previous rural highway routes through eastern Nevada and up through Idaho. Trips are more relaxing due to the regular charging stops.

I should also say that it's been close to 4 years and 150,000 miles without an ICE vehicle. Zero regrets.

So apologies for the sad story...

My dad died about 5 years ago. He would have been fascinated by Tesla, he loved engineering although he was an accountant by trade, although he spent a decade or so running an IT consulting business. Thanks to him I spent my summers messing around with Borland C++ and pushing drivers into UMB so I could get more special effects from Wing Commander on my PC. He was a man of reason and respected science and found it endlessly fascinating. My partner drives a Model 3, I often think how he would marvel over that vehicle... but the Cybertruck, that would blow his mind. Not a day goes by where I don't wish I could drive to his house and show him, do an off roading training course with him tagging along.

I can't do any of that.

If I told my dad that I was worried about buying the Cybertruck because I might not be able to get to him quite as quickly in an emergency he'd tell me I was being an idiot. Buy the cool truck and bring it over so he can check it out. Far better to choose happiness and excitement and optimism for the future than worry about what might be.

Buy the truck man, use it to create quality time with your dad and others.

You'll be fine. If range gets a bit tight, a 15-minute layover instead of 10 will get you enough added range to relieve any stress. Besides, if there's an emergency that 15 minutes means a life-or-death difference, you should call 911 anyway, since they should arrive long before you can make a 290-mile trip.
