Yes, this is just bullying tactics to make you feel like you have "no choice". There are only a few places in the world with truly mandatory valet and NONE of them are in the US. If you're unsure, just say no.This was one of those places that required a valet. When we first pulled up to see if we could check the n early we had 4 valets surrounding us. I told them I just wanted to park it and see and one of them kept asking for the key. My wife said she wanted to stay in it and they acted out off by it. I don’t care about looking like a Karen when these kids are so desperate to drive it.
I’ll take yours and others advice to just tell them I’d like to park it myself with the same pay.
If I had a Pinto, I wouldn’t use a ValetI booked a short anniversary vacation at a resort in Ft Lauderdale and even though they have a small car and SUV policy they happily allowed me to bring my CT and parked it up front. The valet team were typical for the area, younger guys and they basically fought to be the one to drive it. That should have been my sign.
Overnight we got several alerts and when we left we had a lot of sentry notifications which as you know is normal. The only problem is that pretty much every valet got into it, opened the bed and even opened it up for other guests to look around. I’m pretty sure one of them even took it out for a spin but I couldn’t tell based on milage
I expect people to look in it and take pictures next to it. But man these valet guys were gutsy. You’d think they know that it records everything.
I called the resort pissed and they put me in contact with the manager of the valet department but he was the one showing it to people, so…
Beware of Valets.
EDIT: Yes, I put it in valet mode. Even set the speed limit to 50mph.
Hmm. There is or was a parking garage in NYC across from the "Hotel at Times Square" (not actually on Times Square, but close). It's not that much wider than a multistory row house, but has a car elevator to get to the upper levels. I expect it's insanely tight maneuvering in there, too. Can't see that they'd let anyone park their own in a place like that. Shame too, because a reasonable fairly nice hotel within walking distance of Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, etc, with parking close to the hotel is otherwise a heck of a logistics win in a nightmare place like NYC, where driving is crazy and parking is crazier.Yes, this is just bullying tactics to make you feel like you have "no choice". I agree 100%... There should be a way to adjust that to your liking.. Not all valets need to drive on the street.Valet mode doesn't limit much, i think the speed is limited to 70mph? it should be 10mph.
Maybe go into FSD mode and bring the truck back to the restaurant if outside of a 3 mile radius?! ? (just kidding, kinda)5 things valet mode should do
1. Lock the Frunk
2. Lock the glove box
3. Lock all settings in the MCU and grey out your home address and travel history
4 Lock the vault
5 Limit speed to 15mph
